5-2 Cal lost to 2-5 Virginia Tech in double overtime.  The bears were up 20-10 at halftime, but Virginia Tech scored 17 unanswered points and Cal had to block a punt and score on the short field to send it to OT, where on the second OT they threw four straight incompletions to end the game.

So what I hear you saying is that compared to two weeks into this season, the average Stanford fan is probably feeling better about the arch of their season than the average Weenie.
Cal was lucky to beat N. Carolina last week, their remaining schedule is tough, at the present time Stanford is the only team with a non-winning record.
Back to reality for the Bruins.
UCLA is down 49-6 to Indiana after three quarters.

Sure shows what a difference a Coach can make.
Cignetti has Hoosiers at #2 after thumping the Ducks in Eugene... who saw that coming?
Cignetti from James Madison to National Power?

& now 56-6 with ~ 2:50 to go
WOW -- VIRG barely survives @NCAR by less than a foot in OT on 2pt conversion fail by Tar Heels
Ashton Daniels just ran in a 2-pt conversion to put Auburn ahead of Arkansas, 27-24.

They didn't bring in Justin Lamson for that?  :-)
SMU got tripped up now by WAKE.
GTEC can win out and finish undefeated in ACC.
As can VIRG... So, those two could freeze out MIAM, which lost to LOUV.
Then how can MIAM be in the Playoff without even playing in their Conf Champ game?
Yeah -- it's mathematically possible -- but looks very bad, allowing an array of other teams to make arguments.

I agree.

A worse look was Nebraska being picked #2 for the BCS champ game in 2002 (2001 season), after getting their butts kicked by Colorado in their final Big12 regular season game.  That put CU into the Big12 champ game, where it beat Texas in a close game.  It was the only loss for Nebraska during the season, but Colorado had lost twice (Fresno and a prior butt-kicking of their own from TX during the season).  IIRC there were no other one-loss teams, but CU fans were apoplectic that NU was chosen over CU for the BCS game.  I recall this well since I grew up in NE and they continue to be my #2 team after Stanford.  CU had a good case.  Miami then dominated NU in the BCS game.

you mean like Ohio State, Indiana, and Tennessee in 2024.....
UNC almost got off the schnide against Virginia, but Virginia won in OT when they failed to convert the 2 pt conversion that would have won it.

Hope the defense is not on the field for 20 minutes in the 2nd half
Great work from Ashton Daniels!

IMO we still are. Nobody thought we were going to beat Miami. We played one good quarter. After that, Le Déluge. AFAIK, we are still good to go with our next three games, all possibly winnable. We could win three, lose three, or any other combination. How those next 3 games go will IMO define the"arch" of our season.

Auburn lost to Kentucky 10-3, Daniels 13 of 28 for 108 yards and 1 INT/0 TD, 15 runs for 48 yards……

Hugh Freeze likely to unemployed later today or tomorrow
Good, he’s the biggest piece of shit in college football after Brian Kelly.
