How about a Steph Curry shot?

Her foot was level with the coach's box line when she took off to release the ball. That line is 38 feet from the end line, and the basket is 63 inches from the end line, so she took the shot ~32.75 feet up the sideline from the center of the basket. I further estimate she released it a little further from the sideline than where the women's 3-point line intersects the baseline (which is 51 inches from the sideline), so let's say 54 inches from the sideline. 25 feet - 54 inches = 20.5 feet along the baseline from the center of the basket. Using the Pythagorean theorem, this comes out to a distance from the center of the basket of 38.64 feet. For such a great shot, I'm going to call it 39 feet. (FWIW, the caption on the ESPN clip calls it a 40-footer)
