Big missed opportunity. In my clearly biased view, I thought Stanford was the better team. Where NC was clearly superior was the Offensive rebounding. They got many points off these.

I did think the turning point was that bogus T on Z. Spencer being off the mark didn't help. DaSilva missing a 1and1'late didn't help, Wills' poor FT shooting didn't help, Z getting into foul trouble didn't help.

Nothing to hang their heads about. They played a top 25 team with a Hall of Fame coach and hung with them throughout the game. Couldn't hit several open looks down the stretch. Equally important is that they played well two games in a row, which has been a challenge for this program for more than a decade.

For sure. There was absolutely nothing from a coaching standpoint that hurt us offensively. Guys had good open looks, took 'em and missed too many of 'em. From people - particularly Spencer - who normally make 'em. Fatigue almost certainly was a factor.

Stanford might have trouble against a team with a tall, strong post player.

Well, I'm in the other camp - I like Walton as an announcer.  Only caught last 7 minutes of 1H today and was chuckling the whole time through his stream-of-consciousness commentary (and yes, including the shrooms can save the planet sidelight).  But he'll give some good game commentary, too . . . like when some guy from UNC chucked up an airball from three.  Bill interrupted his own rambling with:  "Oh . . . so close!"  I'm chuckling just recalling that one.

I suppose like most things, moderation is best.  But still, he doesn't take himself too seriously, which is generally a good thing in my book.  And a free spirit ain't bad, either.

P.S. A legit concern with Haase teams is the ability to score late in games. I agree that nothing is conclusive after this back-to-back game against a good team; still, it's a bit concerning.

We haven' had very deep teams, and as a consequence Haase has run many of his starters for 35+ minutes.  Is it a surprise, then, that they run out of gas at the end of the game?  The bad news is that the only way to correct it is to become a deeper team.  The good news, then, is that this seems to be what Haase is doing.  Hopefully, we will see less of this in upcoming years.

His play by play partner was having a rough time figuring out when to speak, not being in the same room as Walton.  It was most evident coming out of a break (halftime?) when they were both pictured on the screen.  There was Walton waxing on and on about something, and every time, his cadence slowed, Benetti would start moving his mouth, only to swallow whatever he was about to say because Walton revved up again.

That said, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the similarities to last year.  We had an impressive start to the season, and then barely lost to a top 25 team (1 pt loss to Butler), before going about .500 the rest of the way. 

OK, with that jinx out of the way, with Williams, the other freshman contributions (Taitz and Murrell have played some quality minutes) and another year of growth, this does feel like a higher ceiling.  Exciting times...if they can keep playing.
