He's leaving the option open to return and he didn't appear in either ESPN or Bleacher Report's latest mock drafts so you can probably expect him back when it comes time to withdraw at the end of May...

This was completely unexpected. Spencer Jones did an interview literally days ago where he talked about goals for the returning group, including Ingram (by name).

This is the perfect moment to fire Haase. No continuity anyway. Who cares if the AD just said he’s coming back? The AD also changed his mind after cancelling a whole bunch of sports. When you realize you made an error, correct it.

Clearly it's his choice, but he's not ready for the NBA. IMO, a decent program would have retained Ingram for at least two seasons. Pathetic.

He's not ready and arguably appeared less ready as the season progressed. He took our first opponents by storm because he's strong, can dribble and shoot, rebounds well enuf for his size, and tries to play team ball. As he was scouted, he became less and less effective. Instead of improving, he regressed imo. Based on this season's play, I doubt very much he is drafted. Questions regarding his quickness, lift and shooting.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if he enters the transfer portal if he is not drafted....if that is possible. I've thought for some time that, while he probably enjoys the Stanford environment, he can't be enjoying BB experience very much.

On another point, I will take a four star who might stay for three or four years over a five star one and done anyday.

The early departures of Haase's players is all the indictment of him that you need to fire him.
That said, I don't think Ingram is getting anywhere near to getting drafted. Ingram's numbers really trailed off towards the end of the year. He's not the most athletic guy. I just don't see him in the NBA right now (certainly it's possible in the future though).

Ingram is a McDonald's All American basketball player who's dream is to one day play in the NBA and now that he opportunity to turn that into a reality ya'll are getting upset at him and the coach? And now the coach must be fired because he can't keep players on the team? Isn't going to the NBA the whole point?
I'm upset that he's leaving because now this team will be horrible next year but it is what it is when recruiting All American players.
Now this has happened three years in a row which Haase obviously hasn't built around these departing players but I'm hoping he'll get his act together and realize that he's getting top talent so he needs to not just build the system around a one and done player.
*The transfer portal is here and it's not going anywhere. The trend in transfers is not something new. With top talent coming in expect more people to transfer out. I definitely thought he was ready if he was drafted by the right team. And, sure enuf, he's been almost great for Memphis, especially when Brooks was out. I mostly blame Haase for the problems last year, though clearly covid had a crummy effect.

I dont' think anyone is upset at Ingram. But Muir made reference to keeping Haase and the team together. Now arguably the best player has declared for the draft.
Maybe Muir should have waited until he knew who was coming back before he gave Hasse the "vote of confidence"

Probably no great insight here, but Hasse must change his approach to how the program builds its rosters.
He's proven getting one one and done every year isn't a recipe for success. Maybe when he has veteran teams a one and done can be plugged in each year, but I think the wiser approach is to focus on international players and guys you expect to be around for a few years.
I'd just recruit nothing but shooters and finishers, and teach them how to defend and play defense. Some will be better athletes than others, but you need guys who can put the biscuit in the basket first and foremost.
