MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
MORRIS WITH THE GOAL.
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Given both teams' coming off an OT game on Friday, it's surprisingly high-energy and helter-skelter. Stanford looks a bit deadlier on the counter so far (all of two-and-a-half minutes in)
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
So far Clemson is doing a solid job shutting down midfield and forcing Stanford to pass to the forwards directly -- which is a bit more high-variance than you'd like.

WIM ... any live stream of the game?
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
It's raining hard and Stanford players aren't coping well; they're slipping and sliding all over the place. Meanwhile Clemson's pressing and possession are giving them the territorial advantage.

ESPN3 if you get it. Otherwise you might trawl about the various illegal stream sites.
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Morris has been dropping deep and facilitating play with some clever passes to the space behind Clemson's line. For whatever reason, however, Stanford is struggling much more with just getting purchase -- lots of slips today.
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Gunn, the Stanford coach, is being interviewed and says Stanford's being too passive. I agree. The forwards are dropping back behind the halfway line on defense. The upside is that Stanford hasn't really conceded a really lethal opportunity.
Stanford just missed a header high on a corner kick.
Re: MSoc championship game - Leftcoast - 12-13-2015
The game is on ESPNU on the West coast. Stanford up 1-0 with 5 minutes left in the first half. The teams look evenly matched so the second half should be good.
The crowd looks ... sparse? Nonexistent?
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Morris with the second! A hell of a spin, and a left-footed finish.

Pouring rain in a h.uge (for college soccer) stadium.
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Morris takes off on a skittering solo run that is snuffed out at the end. Looked like it should've been a corner but whatever -- Morris is very dangerous on the counter.
(And, while I'm writing this, Morris plays his forward partner, Langsdorf, into the box with a pass. Langsdorf tackled, no call. Stanford is looking the more dangerous team; Clemson looks tired. Up two goals, 28 minutes from trophy-lifting time.)

Twenty minutes away from our first men's soccer championship. This will be the longest 20 minutes. Go Stanford!
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Morris draws a penalty with a "sombrero" move.
Re: MSoc championship game - cardfan77 - 12-13-2015
a penalty kick chance for Vincent. This will ice the game.
Re: MSoc championship game - washingtonismoney - 12-13-2015
Vincent converts with assurance. 3-0. 20 minutes left.
