Admins, feel free to pin this, if you think it'd be a helpful reference. I'd be happy to update as the season approaches and as it progresses.

Re: 2018 Stanford Football Personnel - ChicagoCard - 04-03-2018
I was trying to remember if Brandon Fanaika was returning for '18. Searched and found this thread. So the answer is yes? He'll be battling Nick Wilson to start opposite Herbig? Should be a really good offensive line I'd think.

I wouldn't be surprised if Devery Hamilton got some looks at the Guard spot opposite Herbig.
You want your 5 best OL starting. Though it does seem Wilson is a very good run blocker, is he collectively better at pass and run blocking than Hamilton?
Re: 2018 Stanford Football Personnel -

Yeah, hard to know starting five at this point. I put Fanaika as a placeholder since he has the most starts of any returning guard outside HeBIG, but it could end up being Hamilton or Wilson (nasty run-blocker), or even A.T. Hall if they put Sarell at RT. But, as many of us have said, our OL next year is set up to be one of the great ones.

Amen. But Little has to stay healthy.

This is great thanks for putting it together!
I think Sarrell and Little start if they are healthy

Come to think of it, I also wouldn't rule out Sarell playing Guard and Hamilton at RT.

Updated to reflect Jack Richardson's transition to scholarship!

Another update: Rising sophomore walk-on long-snapper Will Sweeney (from Larkspur; prepped at St. Ignatius) no longer listed on roster. He is credited with having appeared as a true freshman last year against SC, but I'm wondering if that is either a typo or misunderstood participation number. At any point, perhaps, with another LS coming next year, he saw decreased opportunity for participation coupled with increasing demands in the classroom. Best wishes to him.

It looks like the table formatting did not make the transition to the new software.

Googling a bit, I see some suggestions on community.mybb.com about how to support tables in posts. I didn't look long enough to get an idea of which is best. Here are a couple of links to threads there:

What a mess! I'm on the road right now, but will work on this in the latter part of the week and this weekend. Luckily, we're at a slow part of the football year!

It looks like those are plug-ins that you and/or Yvonne would have to install.

I'll check them out.

I've installed the table generator, which is now above the formatting ribbon. Push the down arrow to create more rows, the right arrow to add more columns. There are plug-ins for all kinds of features on this board. They can be added and removed without disturbing other aspects of the board.

Thanks, all. Just got back into town, and have a full load of classes to teach tomorrow. Will likely get to it this weekend.

RE: 2018 Stanford Football Personnel -

As you can see, I'm in the process of re-formatting. It's a bit of a pain, but the formatting this software offers is clearly superior.
I dither back and forth between listing columns according to eligibility year (Redshirt, First Year, Second Year, Third Year, Fourth Year) as it was, or Class Year (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Fifth Year) as it is now (to see how it looks). The advantage to the first is it shows more starkly, given the fact that we redshirt virtually all freshmen, where we are in our pipeline and what our recruiting needs are. The advantage to the second is that it groups people together with their recruiting class, and shows what year they are academically. I can always switch it if we decide we don't like one or t'other.

Lots of updates in the wake of summer roster posting:
- Junior Malik Antoine moved from cornerback to safety. This is probably the biggest change. He got playing time last year at CB, though I am not sure he would have been on the two-deep at CB this year, especially now that Paulson Adebo will be playing. I am super glad to see the coaching staff address the dearth of safeties, and could mean a starting position for Malik next year depending on how Stuart Head does.
- Freshman Thomas Booker moved from defensive tackle to defensive end. This is really an initial slotting rather than a "move" since he is a freshman, but due to his size, high school performance, and our needs, I had put him at DT. Looks like he will join the ends instead. It is interesting that we are going with three DTs. Looks like we have 0% thoughts of going to a 4-3...
- Freshman walk-on long snapper Jack Chapman added. Had not been named among the PWOs (preferred walk-ons), so either he was late to the game or is a true walk-on (meaning he was not recruited).
- Freshman walk-on offensive tackle guard Nicholas Sligh added. Dude is brobdingnagian. Also had not been among initial PWOs.
- Freshman walk-on wide receiver Brycen Tremayne added, because we needed that name. Also had not been among initial PWOs.
- Freshman Tobe Umerah moved from defensive end to outside linebacker. He had been recruited as a defensive end, and seemed to have his hand in the dirt in high school, so this is a bit of a surprise to me, but it may have been what the coaching staff intended all along. Instantly becomes our biggest OLB not named Toohill.
- Sophomore walk-on Noah Williams moved from cornerback to safety. Again, dearth.
- Finally, senior reserve offensive tackle Jack Dreyer has retired from football. He was a three-star recruit out of Junipero Serra, but never developed as hoped; played in six games as a sophomore, and zero last year. Per Bobk, his retirement, and likely his lack of playing time, is due to injury. Majoring in STS, perhaps we will see a video game designed by Jack in the near future. Best wishes to him.
