2 oddities: Bo Peek who had season ending surgery last week is on the depth chart while Antoine who played extensively last week has yet to appear.

Dalman at Center has played pretty well in Burkett's absence, particularly given he is just a RS Freshman.

Bo Peek had season-ending surgery?
so now we only have 2 nose tackles.

I'm not sure how much we talk about injuries, but Love looked like he had a concussion when he left Saturday's game. I'd actually be ok with him missing the Davis since we won't need him.
Also, Weddington looked pretty bad when leaving the SDSU game. I would think he'll miss at least 4-5 weeks.

It surprised me to see the "or" between Paulson Adebo and Alameen Murphy. The former has appeared to be far more productive in games. Any advantage that Murphy has in practice would have to be pretty significant to offset what seems to be large "in game" edge to Adebo. Murphy does have longevity, though, and perhaps that familiarity for the coaches explains it.

Murphy, from what I can gather online, is a team leader and a sure tackler besides. I would expect his name to remain where it is on depth charts even as his snaps decrease.

Supposedly he was not injured... as I posted in the post-game thread:
Quote:Edward Aschoff
ESPN Staff Writer
I asked Stanford coach David Shaw why Bryce Love came off the field and went into the locker room late in the fourth quarter of Stanford's 17-3 win over USC and he said that after you carry the ball 22 times you start to "feel every one of those." Shaw said he was sent off the field as a precaution because the game was in hand and Love wasn't going back in but that if they needed Love to come back in he could have. I then asked if Love was OK and Shaw said he was. Love was not made available to the media after the game.
Unless Shaw was being disingenuous, I think it was more like Love got a hit hard, and that made Shaw realize that his star player was in on almost meaningless snaps.

But then why go to the locker room early? He definitely did, my section is right near the tunnel and we all cheered for him as he walked off.

Someone mentioned it in the game thread, and I've seen it when I replayed the recording of the game. Love took a very sharp hit running into the middle of the line or just off center left and had a head-on collision with one of the defenders. As he got up and walked away from the pile, he was clearly staggering. The camera was not really focused on him and it didn't stay on that shot to determine if he sorted it out and shook it off as he walked further to the sideline.

As needle already essentially said, don't take the depth chart so literally.
In this case, Murphy's position on the depth chart seems to be a tip of the cap to a respected team elder more than a description of who plays when - or how many snaps.

Don't take Shaw's postgame (or pregame) (or just about any) comments too literally.
This one kind of reads to me as, "I don't think Love is hurt too badly, but the way he came off the field scared the Beejesus out of me. So I sent him off immediately for a check-out."

According to Shaw's Tuesday presser, Little and Love will not play vs. Davis. But they are expected back for Oregon.

I had a good view of this play from my seat.
As Love was falling forward, he went helmet-to-helmet with a defender. The crack was loud enough to hear from the upper deck.
Love was clearly dizzy when he got up. He wobbled to the sideline on his own, and when he got to the bench he took off his helmet and was immediately surrounded by the trainers. Within 30 seconds they were escorting him to the medical tent.
Before the hit I was cheering for him to stay in there despite it being garbage time so he could break away with a big run and get over 200 yards for the game. You don't think seriously about someone getting injured until it actually happens.

Snippets from Shaw's presser re injuries:
- Burkett will play (YAY!!!). Dalman has done nicely but Burkett is the lynchpin to improved OL play
- As mentioned previously, Love & Little will not play vs Davis but are expected for Oregon
- Sarell out for a few weeks but is expected back by end of season (i.e., no surgery needed - PHEW)
- Weddington also out for a few weeks
- Robinson, Perez, Simmons getting better but still a few weeks away from playing

Wait, why is Little out? Did he come out against USC? I only noticed or heard about Sarell going down.

Yeah, but he’s a Dalman...think we’ll be OK. Good game to start and play lots of downs.
