College Football RISK is back. Come play for Team Stanford. - Canalejas - 03-21-2020

The folks over at the college football reddit, r/cfb, are back with another year of RISK.  The map is divided into college football fanbases.

The game will be played at https://collegefootballrisk.com/ but you join a team by logging in with reddit credentials.

In the inaugural year Team Stanford made it pretty far for having relatively few users.  Here's hoping we can make it ever farther this year.

In the first day of gameplay Team Stanford has eliminated Cal, Oregon, and San José State.

48 Cardinal faithful either defended our home territory or attacked our neighbors, but most of them did so without coordinating with the folks on our team Discord.  Remember to message bubthefish if you want in on the strategy sessions.  And new players can continue to join.  

It's looking like Nebraska is going to be a brobdingnagian problem this year.  Last year we shared an alliance with them until they betrayed us.  This year they may get us on the run early. Come help us tip the scales!

Update after Day 2.

UCLA, Oregon State, Nevada, and UNLV all have been eliminated and Stanford controls its home territory plus 6 more.  We now neighbor territories held by Washington, USC, ASU, and the game's behemoth, Team Nebraska.  Will the Huskers wash over the West or can Team Stanford stay alive into the later rounds? Come help influence the outcome!

After 3 rounds the game has gone from 130 teams down to 24 (plus Team Chaos.) And we're one of them!

ASU has pushed into our backyard, but we also succeeded in taking away USC's home territory.

Update after Day 4.

Team Stanford is holding steady at 7 territories for the 3rd day in a row.  USC has been eliminated! But ASU is still fighting us for the right to be the last Pac-12 team standing. And by taking the SDSU territory we now "border" Hawaii, which brings an eastern threat to our shores, Team Florida Gators.  And as always, Team Nebraska looms.

It's super easy if you don't want to be the general.  We need foot soldiers to take orders and fight on the lines.  That means taking your orders and implementing them each day.  Easy and takes about two minutes.  Stanford RISK Wants You!

It was a tough round for Team Stanford.  We're down to 4 territories and both Team Nebraska and Team Florida have entered the Golden State.  Join and help us fortify our defenses and maybe even make another push to claim the state.

Team Stanford bounces back to 6 territories, but still finds itself unable to claim all of CA.  And from its western outpost in Fresno State, Team Nebraska is still positioned to launch attacks against nearly every territory Stanford currently holds. Help us hold off the Husker charge, the renewed ASU campaign, and a new threat from Team Chaos in the north.

Nebraska came at us hard, taking a net three territories from us.  Expect them to try again tomorrow.  Don't let them finish us off!

We've lost the homeland! =(  

But we've somehow managed to outlast both Florida and Notre Dame, which were both eliminated after this last round. The game is down to the last 14 teams plus Team Chaos, so we still have a chance to make the final 10 in this year's edition of RISK. What will it cost us to get the Farm back? Can we break out in any other direction?  Come join the strategy session by enlisting today. Go Stanford!

Chaos has come to the Farm.  

Meanwhile, Team Stanford holds onto the Fresno State, UCLA, and USC territories. And, by outlasting ASU, Stanford becomes the last Pac-12 team standing.  

Can we outlast at least three more teams to finish the game among the final 10? Maybe with your help.

Chaos has departed CA as Team Stanford reclaims the Farm! But Team Nebraska keeps threatening and it appears that we have the possibility of an Ohio State vs Michigan front opening up in the Golden State.  Will their cross-fire take us out?  

No teams were eliminated after this most recent round, but we remain one of the two most vulnerable teams.

Team Stanford continues to hold the Farm plus two more territories. We were so close to pushing Nebraska out of the west coast, but the corn menace managed to gain control of the Berkeley territory.

Nebraska has been driven out of the west! And the game is now down to 11 schools plus Chaos.  We're so close to making the final banner (top 10.) Can other teams keep the pressure up on Nebraska or are they likely to bring the fight to us again?

We may or may not have angered allies in the past by not coordinating all of our moves.

Everything changed when the Khaki Pants Nation attacked. That's right, Harbaugh's boys have it in for us now and have taken the Farm. But that didn't stop Team Stanford from matching its high water mark in the game so far, controlling 7 territories. Where will we go next now that we have two giant fan bases looking to end our run?

For the first time in the game, CA is unified under a single flag.  Unfortunately, that flag is colored Maize.  

But the good news is that Team Stanford still lives.  We're a bit scattered in the northwest, but we're alive. Can we survive long enough to see the large teams start to take each other out?  I hope so.

We took two territories from Team Nebraska and switched one territory with Team Michigan.  All in all, not a bad roll! Can we push Nebraska out of the West Coast for a second time? Will Texas' movement into the upper midwest take Nebraska's eyes off of us?
