Stanford Women's Volleyball -
BobK - 10-20-2020
Last night was a zoom for season ticket holders with Hambly and recent grads Fitzmorris, the Keefes and Plummer.
Fitz at Stanford in rehab that kept her from playing in Italy. Also a bit closer to bring a Dr
The Keefe’s are living together in NYC one zooming on her masters at Stanford one working for Bof A
Plummer in Japan playing Volleyball thru February
No comment on injuries from Hambly. He’s home with family. Team practicing in San Diego
From a source Leilah rehabbing at Stanford
Great McClure interview. She was awesome. Lots of plans but maybe not a volleyball future. Loves being the only Sr and the leader of the team.
McClure talked a lot about how great being with the Stanford volleyball has been and is still.

The team is practicing in San Diego but the head coach is not with them. Any explanation about that?

You know the coach isn’t allowed much time with the team. He communicates with practice plans. Coach will be able to coach about Dec 1 or so. 3 plus weeks before the first game.

Thanks for posting the practice session. Stanford looks like what you would expect with no coaches; pretty disorganized IMO. Looks like they weren't playing with the starters so it was your typical pick-up game. Probably makes practice less boring to play a scrimmage against someone other than your own players. In the video the club team looked good.
It was hard to tell who the players were from the video. If that was Selina Xu setting on some of the plays, she is short, definitely not the 6'0" listed height.

Their future teammate Sami Francis was on the club team they were playing against so yes the club team is pretty good.

When standing next to Xu she seems about my height about 6-0.

Answers a lot of questions. From the McClure podcast she is living at home but down most days to SD
Smith at Stanford. Vicini don’t know Campbell?

I don't like the idea of the players practicing in San Diego. I don't think much is accomplished without coaching. It's basically a free gym with a few general instructions about what to do. Obviously the players are not going to say anything negative, but I bet they aren't that happy about it regardless what they say publicly. Also I believe there is a greater risk of injury without the coaches and staff present. Fortunately it ends November 2.

Seems to me they are making the best of a bad situation.

New photo of Vicini with no boot
RE: Stanford Women's Volleyball - Softball Fan - 10-26-2020
Would you post a link to the picture of Vicini. In my mind she is the key to filling in the one weak link in the lineup. I feel the freshman Annabelle is not quite ready for prime time.
In all the fall volleyball I have watched I haven't been impressed with any team. Originally I thought this would be a rebuilding year. After seeing the SEC, ACC, Big-12 teams play, I'd bet on a healthy Stanford.
Edit: Nevermind. I saw her Instagram photo. If that is the one you are referencing, it doesn't seem to me to be proof she is free of injury. Any independent source she is 100% healthy?

When doctors put someone in a boot, it's not necessarily full time. So, who knows. But better seeing her out than in!

Does anyone know how the volleyball season is going to play out if there actually is one to be played? Since a couple other conferences have already played how would an NCAA tournament work? Would the SEC and others who have already finished their conference games just wait until Pac-12 and whoever is starting late finish, then a tournament would be held? Seems like a weird set up since the wait period would be pretty long so I don't think that would be the case. Same goes for soccer. The conferences that decided to move forward and play have already finished their conference seasons and played postseason tournaments.

Those schools that started their seasons would start again with less games in about March The NCAA tournament will have 48 teams this year.
No comference has finished their seasons in either Volleyball or soccer.
I posted way back when the touraments would be .

Volleyball would probably considered a non-contact sport. However, the county's order does look to me like it would prohibit VB.
Quote:All recreational activities that involve physical contact or close proximity to persons outside one’s household, including all contact sports, will be temporarily prohibited.
