That’s good, but “undisclosed” (ZW) and “not meeting program standards” (DD)? Makes me wonder if it’s reliable info...

Do you really want them to publicly disclose "death in the family"?

Daejon had a "failure to meet program standards" earlier in the season and I have no clue what it meant then or now. (Maybe something about quarantine protocol?) What it almost definitely does mean is he's healthy and will be back next game.

People who have been following know that this was Covid protocol after departing for personal reasons (and yes, death in the family was already disclosed, so the statement is inaccurate unless he means “undisclosed by me”). Just made me wonder how accurate the rest of it was. I don’t wish anyone ill will.

Add: announcer said “he went home for a family funeral.” It doesn’t seem that horrible to me. Ymmv.

RE: MBB: Stanford vs. Cal (ON NOW FS1) - BostonCard - 02-07-2021

Back or not, a pretty anemic start by Stanford against a team they ought to overpower.  We're winning 18-17 with about 8 min left in the first half.

Up 11 at the half. Very good last couple of minutes

Jjj excellent post above. Thanks

FT shooting needs to improve. We're 4 for 9 (Lukas 1 for 4).

I swear I'm not a buzzkill, but I just googled "Kisunas free-throw percentage" and not for happy reasons.

UPDATE: He's shooting 25% in conference play. When was the last time a Stanford player shot "granny-style"?

RE: MBB: Stanford vs. Cal (ON NOW FS1) - BostonCard - 02-07-2021

We are 5/10 from the free throw line. Crazily, that's better than Cal (0/2).

Has Williams played?  I would have thought he'd be playing a fair bit even if he hadn't started, but I don't see him in the box score.

Wills has played, but he hasn't exactly lit up the box score (2 points, 1 board).

If you're the opposing big, you foul him every single time he tries to shoot.

I wouldn't mind if he shot "Rick Barry" style: it would be a big improvement. We need Rick to come out of retirement and give him some lessons.

Hank is back. They just showed his statue on tv. I know he was away being repaired for LOL several years. Great to see him back

RE: MBB: Stanford vs. Cal (ON NOW FS1) - ADPinWDC - 02-07-2021

Now 12-7 with 8 games to play.
Gotta win 6 of those 8 I think to make NCAAs, plus Two games in Pac12 Tourney would do it.
Win 1 or 2 vs COLO, USC and Oregon down the stretch.  The other games are winnable -- if we get some talent back. Pretty thin right now.

No Angel, no Keefe tonight?

That's a lot of players not available tonight.

I think Keefe was in there for a few minutes at some point.

Keefe played a couple minutes towards the end when Kisunas picked up foul #4.

Angel was a healthy scratch. He hasn't been very good in his limited minutes.

ESPN tracker only has Murrell, Taitz, and Wills as having played off the bench.

RE: MBB: Stanford vs. Cal (ON NOW FS1) - burger - 02-07-2021

Another decent game--not our best night but good enough against a mediocre team.

I was watching Wills on almost every defensive possession, and he looked as quick and agile as ever.  Hopefully whatever he tweaked near the end was minor.  Maybe it's just a coincidence, but Cal started chipping away at the lead right after Wills went out.  We could sure use him against Colorado.

Just a coincidence. The killer was a series of something like 4-5 TOs in 6-7 possessions. Bryce was on a stationary bike and walking around, so hopefully he recovers over the next 4 days.

I'm guessing it was 2-time All-American George Yardley, who went on to play for the Pistons (of Fort Wayne, Indiana) and was one of the best free-throw shooters of all time.
