Sunday WBB Games Added -

Just saw that WBB added a Sunday game with Gonzaga to replace the OSU game that was postponed. Zags x2 this season.

Awesome to see a game added on short notice! Michelle Smith for ESPN posted the other day she had heard rumblings that the inability to get last minute PAC12 scheduling changes done was due to some programs lack of willingness to play those makeup games. Our staff clearly wants to play games against anyone. We are not the program(s) Smith is referencing. Arizona/USC also have a makeup game scheduled so they are not the issues. Wonder which schools are being "difficult."

A number of PAC-12 schools have had 4 games postponed. That’s is a lot games to make up
particularly since road trips generally involve 2 games, which could mean playing 6 games in 10 days. That is relatively uncommon even in the NBA.
I would guess that the PAC-12 will set a new minimum number of games to be eligible for the conference championship.

And a challenging season just got more challenging. Gonzaga at this point is probably tougher than Oregon State.
Last year, you may recall, Oregon State missed a game with us and refused to make it up late. Now they miss another....

I was trying to remember if that was indeed the case with Oregon State last year. What are the odds this years game with them will be made up at a later date at Maples. I’m thinking highly unlikely.

Saw that Long Beach State was on tap to play Sunday if it didn't work out with Gonzaga. That would have been fun!

Gonzaga was supposed to play Santa Clara today, so I presume they already had their travel arrangements made or perhaps were even here when they got the news that Santa Clara could not play. They needed another Bay Area team, and our cancellation with Oregon State made us available.

Net effect, works out well for both Gonzaga and Stanford -- and Stanford gets a quality opponent for Sunday

The Santa Clara game was scheduled for Gonzaga, although Gonzaga is scheduled at Pacific Thursday.

That’s a lot of zigging for the Zags if they’re returning to campus each time - consecutive games @Portland, @Stanford, @Pacific.

So why isn't PAC-12 Network covering the game? It's the same time slot as the planned OSU game. All the resources are lined-up.

I was going to guess that most likely it's the schools that are already out of it as far as the post-season goes. But every school in the conference has a winning overall record thus far and no one has more than 5 losses. OTOH maybe a school like Colorado, with a gaudy 12-0 record at this point, wants to "protect" itself by eliminating tougher games in the hope they can still get to the magic level of around 20 wins that traditionally gets an NCAA bid.
Or maybe none of the above and I'm all wet as usual, LOL.

Probably because it is not a conference game and it is committed to carrying a certain number of conference games and don’t have the budget to add another game.
