Stanford Cross Country -
BobK - 08-02-2022
Here’s are the Women’s and Men’s rosters for this coming season.
The Women:
For first the bad news it might be the weakest team in memory. No sugar coating it. Per a great site Jenks is ranked 50 and Dudek 47. Plus Dudek is returning from an injury although had an awesome season two years ago. Good news Tanaka is in a two year Grad program and returns after a very good track season. The team has a number of great Frosh but the best, Willis and Whittaker are 800-1500 runners more than 6K. It is a young team.
The Men soon and that’s great news

The Men:
Stanford, Oklahoma State and Northern Arizona are the top three teams. However the top Northern Arizona runner, Nor, west pro last month
Stanford has great depth with the the Frosh Bergen and Gavin Sherry and brother Callum Sherry. However the depth continues with Beaudoin-Rousseau, Hart, Burke, Boyden and DiDinato. This would be a strong team right there however we have the forecasted # 8 runner in the nation Robinson who ran a great 10K yesterday in the Commonwealth Games, Then # 6 Sprout and # 2 Hicks.
Yes a potential title

No live stream, which is a bummer.

Farm did you see Dudek isn’t running tomorrow? Hope they are just being careful with her

I follow the men more closely, and haven't heard anything about Dudek. She has been injury-prone so hopefully you're right. Ky Robinson didn't go either, which I think is because they're bringing him along slowly since his track season went deep into the summer representing AUS at various international meets. And Meika B-R didn't go, but he was fairly sick last week. Ky, Meika and Callum Sherry crushed a 10 mile tempo at Baylands today so they're clearly healthy and progressing, just no need to rush it. Hopefully the same with Dudek. It's just an invite after all, even if it's the Nats course.

Good day for the Cardinal men overall. 2nd to BYU without Ky. Impressive runs by Hicks, Sprout, Boyden (nice to see him running well again), and Didonato (same after tough injury last spring). Solid day for Nolan Topper. Devin Hart continues to break our hearts (no pun intended). Hart has the talent and the fitness, but race after race he goes out with the top guys and fades. Men still need a better 5th, but lots of guys, including Meika B-R who also sat out, could be that guy. I like their chances at Nats.

Thanks Farm. Stanford women were 5th. Good performance but per the stats during the race they led with a K to go

The in-race stats are wrong. Missed a bunch of runners from various teams. Women were not leading with a K to go.

I saw very very confusing as I followed. Then I looked at the final stats. So glad they were wrong

A big meet on Friday at the U of Wisconsin with most all of the top teams including both of the Stanford teams
RE: Stanford Cross Country -

Monster victory by the Cardinal men at Nuttycombe. Great race up front, with Ky, Hicks and Sprout in the lead pack of 6 with 1km to go. Hicks took the lead in last 600m with NAU superstar Nico Young a half-step back and looked like it would be the two of them all the way to the line...and Ky came storming back to get the individual W! Hicks 3rd, Sprout 7th, Hart 14th and Meika 30th. Maybe the best races ever from Hart and Meika, and really needed it as Boyden, our expected 4th guy, blew up and faded badly. This team is loaded up front, but deep too.
For context, 8 of the top 10 teams in the country, including 1-2-3-5, and 19 of the top 30 were there. So this was essentially a Nats preview.
Stanford will move into the #1 ranking and will now have all the pressure that comes with it at Nats. Let's go, boys!

Great summary. Wow what a meet for the Stanford Men
The Women were 7th but Dudek is back and was the top Stanford runner
