Other Games this Weekend - Austroturf - 09-03-2022

Harbaugh and the Wolverines up 13-0 vs. Colorado State in the first half.  CSU's QB, Millen, is having a rough outing.

RE: Other Games this Weekend - MVDan - 09-03-2022

App State over North Carolina 21-14 2nd Quarter.

Colorado trounced by TCU yesterday. . . .

Now tied up 21-21 late in the first half.  Mack Brown may be able to avert Michigan's fate 15 years ago this Saturday!

Let's see how Sonny Dykes does with the Horned Frogs.  His stint with the Bears was ho-hum, and he never beat Stanford.

UCLA is looking decidedly off during the first half against Bowling Green -- trailing 17-7 after a blocked punt, a DTR interception and a muffed kick-off return.  I expect the Bruins to come back, but so far Chip and Co. look pretty dicey.

You were right. The Bruins have now scored 17 straight points to bring the score to 24-17.

Ducks down 7-0 vs. Georgia; and new starting QB, Bo Nix (transfer from Auburn), just threw a pick to give the ball back to the Bulldogs.

Now 21-0 in the first half. Is Georgia that good, or Oregon that bad. I suspect the former.

BTW UC Davis is ahead of Kal 7-0 at half. Couldn't happen to a nicer team.

Now 21-0 after a second Bo Nix INT.  Embarrassing for the Pac-12.

Incredible ending to the UNC -- APP State game.  The Mountaineers scored 40 points in the 4th quarter, but failed to tie the game when a 2-pt. conversion attempt with 9 seconds left went south.  Final: 63-61 UNC.   Mack Brown sitting at 2-0 with the Tar Heels.

Georgia looks that good.  They have been able to move the ball at will.  The Ducks have produced some good offense, but those two picks were deadly.  Nix got greedy on the second one.

San Diego State hosting Arizona in its new Snapdragon Stadium, after playing in Carson for two years.

The new hone of the Holiday Bowl is Petco Park.

Bruins in control midway through the second half after scoring 31 unanswered points.  38-17.

Iowa beats South Dakota 7-3. The seven came on an FG and two safeties……

RE: Other Games this Weekend - Austroturf - 09-03-2022

Georgia up 35-3 vs. Oregon early in the second half.  SMH.

I saw the score was 5-3 at one point.  Wow.

RE: Other Games this Weekend - Phogge - 09-03-2022

Just skip the season and avoid all the concussions and hand Georgia the trophy.

Colorado is horrible, and will continue to be horrible as long as Karl Dorrell is their HC.

And speaking of the new popular phrase "...the transfer from..." - TCU has 18 transfers in its 2-deep, while Colorado has a measly 14.

RE: Other Games this Weekend - lex24 - 09-03-2022

Georgia 49-3. 7 possessions. 7 TD’s. Men against boys.

Thought it was interesting that Georgia only had one transfer come this year. Second lowest in nation.  The only team besides the Service Academy‘s with no transfers coming in was Clemson.

RE: Other Games this Weekend - Austroturf - 09-03-2022

Rice Owls tied with USC 7-7 in the first quarter.  Luke McCaffrey (now a receiver) instrumental in the first drive.  Austin Jones hasn't touched the ball yet.

Yes.  Georgia has punted once, now that Stetson Bennett has been pulled from the game.  Crazy.

Austin Jones scores USC's 2nd TD: 14-7 Trojans.

It’s easy to say now, but I never felt Oregon had a remote chance against Georgia.  But this Utah-Florida game is a different story, and it’s a big deal for the Pac-12.

Utah is much better than Oregon, and Florida is much worse than Georgia. The Utes are rightly a 2.5 favorite.

Are we supposed to be happy about that?

Totally agree.  Oregon's offense is suspect and then facing an NFL caliber Bulldog Defense.  Ducks got destroyed; never in the game.
Going into Week 2, Ducks might fall all the way out of Top 25.
I believe UTAH is in mid-season form with a LOT of talent returning.
Always tough going on the road in SEC.

U$C is not paying attention to their defense; they don't care -- the score with Rice should be 21-21.
Troy got a cheap 93yd Pick 6 when a good pass went through a receiver's hands to a DB at the 10.
Lincoln Riley actually shows a Zero-RB backfield at U$C... sacrilege.

Plummer ran Kal*Suck's offense efficiently, 23-35 for 268 yds, 3 TDs on UC Davis.  For the win, 34-13.

KK -- let's see how good EJ Smith turns out to be; plus mixing in Casey Filkins, maybe frosh Arlen Harris as a power back.
Shaw says he like EJ as both a run and pass threat.  Austin Jones might not have been the #1 RB had he stayed (?)
And, Jones wants to go bowling to move up the draft ladder.  Stanford is not a ticket to a bowl right now.

Plus, I believe, this year's offense will be pass first -- because of McKee and a WR/TE Corp that goes 8 deep.
And I think this O-line is much better at pass blocking than run blocking.  I think A.Jones sees all that.
