Homecoming! My mom is going to be there for her 65th(!!) reunion. I asked her if she was planning on attending the game. "Of course!". You gotta give it to the octogenarians -- the last of the true red hots.

Although it is a topic that is never discussed here on this board, I think that Fla State will experience a bit of JET LAG.
While our guys will come out with enthusiasm and spirit.
This dynamic will last a quarter, maybe a bit more, before the glaring reality sets in that they may just be better, even if not on their best day or time zone.
Although we give it a courageous effort I'm guessing the Seminoles come out on top.
With the usual disclaimer that I hope I'm wrong.

This week is a Florida State triple-header. Women's soccer at FSU Thursday, Women's volleyball at home Thursday, and Football Saturday. Three separate cross-country trips. Ugh.

NOLES A HEAVY FAVORITE, DESPITE LOSING LAST THREE
So, FLST opens a 17.5 point fave to homedog Stanford. Gotta bet $1000 now on FLST to win a measly $100.
https://sportsbook.fanduel.com/football/ncaa-football-games/florida-state-@-stanford-34818537
Noles bring a murderous TOP Offense in ACC, averaging 536 yards a game, and 44 points, in a balanced attack. Speed.
https://www.espn.com/college-football/st.../_/group/1
Looks to be nice weather, and a fast track, night game. Maybe a score of 45 to 20, and they cover the spread?
What is the over / under on sacks by FLST? 7 or 8? They will blitz a lot. Gulbranson should be able to throw, if he can shoot quickly.
Their Senior QB Castellanos is a bad match up for us, who throws well enough and can scramble.
We need to take turnovers to be in the game.
FLST did a nice job on Bama to open the season, but after three losses (all one-score games) will come in ANGRY.
-- They lost @VIRG in OT by 46-38. Then to #2 MIAM by only six points, 22-28. And were leading PITT 24-21 entering Q4.
PITT outdueled them in Tallahassee, against an inconsistent FLST secondary -- reminds me of U$C; they don't like to play Defense.
To get to a decent Bowl, Noles can see winning the next six; might be favored in each of them, with CLEM and FLOR both down.
Also like U$C, FLST is mentally fragile if they get down points-wise. Stanford scoring first and quickly will be essential.

I'm also hoping for the time zone effect to kick in sooner rather than later.

Oops, I had a typo and had us losing 275-27, which was affecting the average prediction. Fixed!

I think we're going to win. Body clock issues for FSU. 33-31 victory. Three TDs, four field goals for the Good Guys.

I could see the Seminoles getting 9 TD's a quarter, and 3 FG's a half,
which gets them to 270.
But then they still would need one more FG and a Safety.
Which I doubt they could get.
So yeah 275 a bit much.

The biggest dilemma I have in making these predictions stems from my belief that our run game could theoretically dictate a low-scoring grind-it-out game with Kenney good for 2-3 FGs, but that we get so far behind in the first half that it’s already garbage time and that affects our play calling, and 2nd half FGs don’t matter.

Sort of the same game flow that happened in the greatest upset of all time, no? The more the underdog hangs around, the more they start to believe...and then crazy things happen.

Apparently, Cumberland, being short on players, recruited some guys from their law school.
So just wondering if A.Luck and the new AD have been over to see the new crop of Stanford law students for any possible walk ons?
oops, forgot this: </sarc>

I appreciate Florida State University for standing by their principles and understanding that a mascot is venerated, not denigrated.

Stanford was on the leading edge of political correctness in 1972 when, as a freshman, I was asked to vote on a new mascot. Admin didn't honor our choice; I have always found it difficult to root for a color.

Well the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Tribal Council said it was OK for them to use Semilnole so that's somewhat different than at Stanford where some Native Americans objected to the use
https://seminoles.com/news/2005/8/5/fsu-responds-to-ncaa-decision-banning-use-of-native-american-symbols
they also don't refer to Seminoles as a mascot...
Quote:FSU pays tribute to the resilience and courage of the Florida Seminoles when it refers to and represents the Seminole name and other symbols such as Osceola and Renegade. The Florida Seminoles are our partners, not our mascots. The Seminole Tribe of Florida ensures that any display of its culture and symbols are consistent with both the Tribe’s and the university’s values. Seminoles design and create the authentic apparel worn by the FSU students portraying Osceola. These appearances adhere to the official wishes of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. As partners, we engage in continuous conversation regarding this symbolic representation.
https://www.fsu.edu/seminole-tribe/know.html
and while I'm no expert on the FSU Seminole images over the years, the current ones I've see are certainly more respectful than

Lot of FLST fans doing the chop in the stadium. It'd be okay if they were tasteful about it.
