I think it's not uncommon for wide receivers to have outsized egos and to act oddly. Terrell Owens. Ocho Cinco. Antonio Brown, ODBJr., Joe Horn, Randy Moss, George Pickens, Stefon Diggs. You could go all the way back to Peter Gent (author of North Dallas Forty).

That doesn't even include the WRs who've been arrested like Michael Irvin, Jimmy Smith, Chris Henry, TItus Young, Justin Blackmon, Donte Stallworth, Sam Hurd, Plaxico Burress, Henry Ruggs, Rae Carruth, Zay Jones, MIchael Floyd, Josh Gordon, Dwayne Bowe, Kenny Britt, Rashee Rice, Jordan Addison, Xavier Worthy, Kadarius TOney, Alshon Jeffery, Ted Ginn Jr., Mark Duper, Andre RIson, Tyreek Hill, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant.

My read: Aiyuk may be acting irrationally from a career-management standpoint, but that is not evidence of CTE. Plenty of players make bizarre business decisions without brain disease. In his case, the cleaner explanation is: injured star receiver, massive contract dispute, damaged relationship with team, public ego battle, and maybe no adult in the room saying, “Brandon, for the love of Jerry Rice, put the phone down.”

There were no citations issued, therefore the names of the parties involved in the incident are not published. The only reason we know anything now is the absence of Shanahan from the opening of camp.

so looking at the Palo Alto police log it looks like the accident was ~6:13pm on July 14th, at (or near) the intersection of Hamilton and Alma. While cars can move briskly on ALma, not so much on Hamilton. I wonder if one car was turning right onto Alma and was hit my the second one, of course in that scenario I have a hard time seeing neither party getting a ticket. Breaking a nose, three ribs, getting a concussion, and forty stitches sounds like a pretty big impact if it was two cars, I wonder if he was on a bike.

I doubt it to, just trying to figure out how one driver is uninjured and the other has a broken nose, rids, hand, concussion and over forty stitches. Only thing I can think of is being t-boned at an intersection but that would almost certainly have at least one driver cited for something...

maybe he was on foot....

As famous as Shanahan is, perhaps the offending driver is even more famous and would prefer to keep their name out of the press. Shanahan, being of that stratum of personal recognizance, may have agreed.

Hope he heals fully...definitely a nasty collision :(

Still, how did the news not get out? He's a pretty high profile guy, and not a word to the press? None? No one from the police, the hospital, the team, the bystanders? Who was driving the other car, Altman, Elon or Zuckerberg?

Violating privacy laws re: high profile individuals generally results in the loss of a job and/or a lawsuit. I am not surprised that anyone involved in this matter was interested in doing something stupid (i.e., leaking the story).

I would not be surprised if the owner of a privately owned security camera from the vicinity made their video of the event public now that they know who was involved (assuming someone would pay them for it).....

Now that we know it was a Tesla vs Mercedes, I would assume Shanahan was in the Mercedes. Tesla crumple zones make them very safe for the driver.

true, I of course assumed he was wearing a seatbelt.....but maybe not and that would help explain the injuries, an unbelted driver can take quite a hit to the face from a deploying airbag, and if you hand is in the line of fire in can be propelled into your face which could explain the broken hand
