Hawaii game thread - Spiny_Norman - 08-28-2026
Let's light this candle! Football is back! I'm psyched for the start of the Pritchard Era. The end result may be no different than what we have experienced lately with Stanford football. But it's a clean slate at this point. Nothing to critique or worry about, right?
Stanford vs. Hawaii is not an ACC conference game so Stanford does not have to submit an injury report. When available, they will be posted here.

Stanford also has not posted an online depth chart. There is a link to it from the Media page, but it is dead as of 3 pm today.

On this football kickoff evening, we are still undefeated and all things are still possible!
The Stanford website is weird, because if you click the Hawaii Game Notes you can scroll their 24 pages of detailed stats of game and player info.
The Stanford Game Notes is like a screen capture of only page 1 (and maybe not even whole page 1) of 44, but unable to scroll any further into it.
Hopefully only a temporary mistake.

I can read the entire "game notes", I'm using chrome on MacOS
most of it is about the 2025 season and the coaching staff profiles
on the joys of the ACC

Top Hawai'i WR Pofele Ashlock will not play vs. Stanford, as expected by many UH fans, due to a knee injury stemming from last spring (he missed fall training camp).
Former Stanford WR Jackson Harris, who transferred to Hawai'i last season and had a great year for them, transferred to LSU as a redshirt junior this season. Sports Illustrated and OurLads have him as the starting Z receiver for the Tigers.

Reports are that Niki Prongos and Simione Pale will not play today. Add that to earlier reported injuries to Nick Fattig and Nathan Mejia and that's almost an entire starting OL out. Lots of new guys will be playing OL today. Again. Sigh.

I just watched a second-half rock fight between UNC and TCU. UNC won 15-10.
Both transfer QBs (each rated a tick higher than Davis Warren, who had a 0.85 transfer rating by 247) had underwhelming numbers, but the QB who did not turn the ball over was able to celebrate.
UNC QB Billy Edwards Jr. (0.86 transfer rating by 247) - 16-28 232 sacked 3 times
TCU QB Jaden Craig (0.91 transfer rating by 247, Harvard transfer) - 20-32 175 sacked 3 times, one fumble
With the news of Stanford's O-line injury woes, hoping Davis Warren can go 60 minutes without a turnover. A rock fight win by Stanford would still be a win (and definitely a reason to celebrate).

Despite O-Line woes (again)... How tough is Hawaii D-line?
Says CFB: the Rainbow Warriors loaded up with linemen to mostly beef up the depth,
but Spencer Elliott (Portland State) and Adam Tomczyk (West Virginia) should be instant edge rushers
around veteran Lesterlaisene Lagafuainia. Jamih Otis #11 leads the Defense.
Cardinal wins by 4 at home. 24-20.
This will be one of the few games we will be favored all year.
To reach six wins (doubtful), this is a MUST WIN. The rest of the schedule is tough.
Davis Warren at QB -- can O-Line protect him?
Warren will have talented WR Corp. We want >200 yards passing
I look for RB Micah Ford to surprise -- does he get blocking?

Last year Gulbranson came out erratic.
Defense must make turnovers. Hawaii throws a lot (40+); get picks.
LB Corp and secondary should keep us in the game.
Worried about our D Line giving Alejado too much time -- he can scramble, create plays. I would blitz.
Last year we went up 10-0, and led 20-17 with 9min to play. They beat us on two late FGs in Honolulu.
Another close one. How many fans show in the Stadium? Weather looks PERFECT.
