Oski, OSKI! Â The sky is falling! - Pastor - 10-16-2010
At 10:31 in the second quarter, USC leads by 21-0 and is marching...and it isn\'t  even as close as the score.

Has Bear Insider shut down yet?
Re: Oski, OSKI! The sky is falling! - Pastor - 10-16-2010
It shouldn\'t be long now as USC scored again.

28-0 U$C with 8 min left in the first half. Â Wow.
Thing of beauty - anshulw - 10-16-2010
Watching Cal completely implode.
USC knocking on the door for 5th TD of the half! Bear Insider is still up, but not for too long, I think.

Now 35 - 0...is there a mercy rule?

Kevin Riley threw one of the worst picks I\'ve ever seen.
Sadly, I\'m sure Cal won\'t suck this much against us.

Now 42-0....did kal downgrade the wrong sport with an odd-shaped ball?
Now 42- zip -

If there ever were a Dr. Jekyll/Mr Hyde team, Kal is it.
Re: Oski, OSKI! The sky is falling! - anshulw - 10-16-2010
$C outgained Cal 372-64 yards in the first half.
Don\'t think we had such a horrendous first half performance even during the Buddy/Harris years.

YES.

Favorite Cal fact: they haven\'t scored a touchdown against USC...since 2007.

If it wasn\'t C.a.l, I would have stopped watching long ago.
I totally missed the 6th TD, as I thought the halftime score was secure. Â Texas is beating Nebraska, which is very good for Stanford. Â I thought I could sneak a quick look without missing much.
Now, seriously, I almost want C.a.l to stabilize this thing. Â If it gets much worse, Riley might get benched. Â And I think I would prefer to have Riley remain the C.a.l QB for the rest of the year. Â

The second half was perfect. Â USC did just enough to show C.a.l that they were not solving anything. Â Meanwhile, C.a.l did just enough to keep Riley in the game.
The late game pattern was curious to me. Â C.a.l started brining in non-starters on the O-line, but kept Vereen and Riley in the game. Â Weird?
Couple of funny comments on Kal board - Redrum - 10-16-2010
One Bare fan posted from the game where several other Kal fans had left at halftime
"I feel like I sat through a snuff film just to say I never left a movie early."
There\'s a 3-page thread about possible replacement coaches. Â One loyal fan suggested "Shirley Temple. Â We need some toughness."
But most posters admit...Kal is stuck with Tedford  even though they think he\'s Peter Principled himself and Kal into seasons of misery because they can\'t afford to buy him out AND hire another high-profile coach.
Re: Oski, OSKI! The sky is falling! -

The thread is entertaining. Â Even the "it ain\'t our money" b.e.a.rbackers understand that their AD is short on funds. Â They can\'t afford to pay Ted.f.ord and another good coach. Â And the state, the regents, and the faculty are not going to let the AD try to hire a better coach to take C.a.l to the next level. Â A cheap coach, the only realistic alternative, would likely not win more than Te.d.ford even as his results continue to decline. Â And no one is going to be paying C.a.l to take Te.d.ford away.
For SC & Oregon this must be a dream come true.
Sadly, Stanford\'s record against Te.d.ford has not been as good. Â So while it will be entertaining to watch C.a.l\'s continue slide, I will not enjoy it if C.a.l still finds a way to beat Stanford each year.

Just checking in for the first time. Â For your amusement, about midway through the second quarter I left. Â Not to clean the gutters, but to go to Costco with my wife, which is about as sad. Â It was one of the worst lay-down-and-die jobs I\'ve seen in some time. Â Riley, sadly, peaked as a soph. Â He hasn\'t gotten any better, obviously, and now appears to be playing scared, which makes things a whole lot worse. Â A few dropped passes early on when it mattered didn\'t help.
We did kick #1 SC\'s butt in Water Polo, though... Â

Hey, we beat you to that. During the third quarter of our game against USC, the Jumbotron showed us a live sideline interview with one of Stanford\'s WP stars - discussing the upset of (then) #1 USC.

That is correct! Stanford beat SC by 2 in WP and then went on to beat SC by 2 in Football in the same day. It was a lot of fun to watch the WP because the Stanford goalie had just a crazy good game.
That combination of 2 & 2 is a whole lot better than beating SC in WP and then getting destroyed by 34 in football. :)
FWIW - SC, C.a.l, UCLA and Stanford are all roughly equivalent in Water Polo. Any of the four can beat the other teams if things go their way. Thankfully the MPSF tournament is at Stanford this year, so that may prove to be important.
Not sure NCAA Team Title #100 will wait for Water Polo, but it is in the running.
#100 could/should happen in 2010. WVB #2, MWP #4, WSoccer #1 and MXC #1 are all solid possibilities. My money is on "The Machine" because I believe they will be up first. Actually WXC will be up first, but I don\'t think they have a really good shot at their title.
