"The Home of Intellectual Brutality"  I love it.  This is part of how this name was earned:

Stumbled upon this a couple months ago and have been meaning to post it.  Since this is the official CARDboard pump ourselves up thread, this is as good a place as any.

Yes.  It's Slash and Brian May playing guitar on our fight song.

Re: It's finally game week! - fullmetal - 08-26-2014

Facebook and SAA events have been created for the local game watching party!  2014 season is a go.

Anyone aware of anything in MN?  I have not seen anything yet.

ALso, which network is carrying?

I see a U$C game watching party scheduled for the Minneapolis club (at Maynard's in Excelsior), but nothing yet for this weekend.  You should contact your local club leadership and tell them to get on the ball! :)

Most of these events are created by individual local alumni club leaders.

I think there's a separate page for Big Game viewing parties, but it will only be updated later.

This is interesting to me, as I live in Scotland and am condemned to lie in my guest room listening to KZSU if I want to get any significant real time interaction with football games.  Does anybody out there know what it would take to get a feed from whatever TV network is broadcasting these games over to (say) Edinburgh?

As a bonus, it would very much help my campaign to get some sort of Alumni club going here in Braveheart Country (soon to be a nation again).

Freedom!!!!!

I have found that you have to wait until just before kickoff to find live video feeds of the games.  I have been pretty lucky finding a feed for the games not broadcast on a DirectTv channel.  Just use Google, but beware of websites that want you to download a video player and/or want you to sign up for their services and give them a credit card.

SAA is linking to this page promoting a YouTube/Pac12 Network partnership for international users:  http://pac-12.com/pac-12-networks-international

It's only a partial answer, of course, since it only covers Pac12 Network.

There's one I used a couple of times last year that was okay, but I don't want to put the name on here because I think the more it's mentioned in public places on the web, the more likely that somebody will go after them with a lawyer and shut them down. I'll message you.

That seems like a good use for the private board. Does that still exist?

Either way, I recently canceled cable so I'll be using various different methods to get the games. If I find particularly good ones I can share. Though it'll probably mostly be "using my brother's comcast password on the ESPN/PAC-12 websites".

Re: It's finally game week! - fullmetal - 08-27-2014

My favorite method is "host the local alumni watch party at a sports bar and hang out with cool alumni while watching the game."  They didn't used to host watch parties very often before I got here.  Take initiative! :D

Stymie, last I heard, prevailing winds were indicating "No, thanks"...is that still true?

That's pretty cool.  It only covers Pac-12 network to watch games live, but note this from the page:

"Additionally, Pac-12 home games that originally aired on Pac-12 broadcast partners (e.g. ESPN and Fox channels) will be replayed a couple days after the original airing."

Re: It's finally game week! - SUBuddha - 08-27-2014

Garvin, out here in the AZ area, most bars carry Direct TV and cable since they need to cater to the NFL and U of A/ASU audience.

Re: It's finally game week! - fullmetal - 08-28-2014

Surely at least one bar in a major metro area would have Dish Network or Time Warner, which both do carry the P12 network...?  I admit that I had to call around to figure out which places had what cable packages.
