RE: Class of 2021 - Papa John - 04-24-2020

If Keanu Williams is a 2021 recruit, then he has stated his desire to leave Stanford (or wherever he plays) after the 2023 season, which means he would presumably have at least one year of eligibility left and, more importantly, not have finished his degree. I guess that's OK?

My fault. The draft graphic in small letters at the bottom says NFL draft 2025.

RE: Class of 2021 - Papa John - 04-24-2020

I just don't know that I've ever seen a Stanford commit state up front "I'm leaving school early to play pro." So since we waste our time reading tea leaves to predict the actions of 17- and 18-year olds, I would be surprised if Williams commits to Stanford. That's all I meant to imply.

Edited, see above. 2025, not 2024. It implies leaving after senior year.

Right, Stanford's graphic says 2025, but the recruit "corrected" the tweet and said (and still says) "It's going to be a reality in 2024." Whatever, it's now a bigger deal than it should have ever been, so sorry about that.

If Stanford is, in fact, doing this, you'd think they'd consult Pantone for the correct shade of (Cardinal) red.

RE: Class of 2021 - Phogge - 04-24-2020

I would want kids to come if they think they could go pro after three years. It is the reality of football today so why not join the club.

Hell, we've had an early entrant drafted every year since 2015. Colby Parkinson will make it 6 drafts in a row.

OK, the old dog won't die. I agree with you, Phogge, and I don't have a problem with recruits thinking/wanting to make the NFL after three years in college. But for Stanford to tweet a graphic saying that a recruit is going to be drafted in 2025, and then the recruit "correcting" the tweet and saying that he will be in the NFL in 2024, not 2025, makes me wonder if said recruited is all that interested in Stanford. Honestly, I hope I'm wrong.

RE: Class of 2021 - BobK - 04-24-2020

Stanford just had both a mbb and WBB player graduate in three years. It can happen in FB.

RE: Class of 2021 - Papa John - 04-24-2020

That didn't occur to me, BobK. That's a good point.

Wasn't that the NFL color for the Bears?  The Ravens color was clearly purple.

Now that you mention it, I see that the small image of the player is the correct color. Just jarring to see our block S in a different shade.

They are both from LA, very near each other.

Will Shipley is announcing tomorrow. Any shot?

Clemson or ND. Latter would be terrible.

RE: Class of 2021 - BostonCard - 05-04-2020

Not a betting man, but I believe he is widely expected to commit to Clemson.

247Sports, which is usually pretty accurate, has him 100% for Clemson.
Not a betting man either, but if I were......
