I don’t know. When their best receiver beats our best corner, it’s not so much “attacking our opponents weaknes”.

The "weaknesse" is not Adebo himself -- it is his tendency to jump routes.
That is what they exploited after they looked at video.

Nope, we give up a brobdingnagian run on first and 18. At this point, it’s so tragic it’s funny.

Not just that. He was beaten every which way to China.

On the long run Ryan Beecher #43 got FLATTENED leaving open green.
And Beecher could not cover the TE either.
Maybe... try Sinclair #36. Nothing to lose at this point.

I hope this game is a big wake-up call. The idea that we can afford to not recruit players at certain positions in a year has been laid to waste. The idea that training and conditioning doesn’t matter is shown to be ridiculous. The idea that it’s not a big deal if we leave a few scholarships unused has now been proven false. The idea that we can rest on our laurels and everything will be fine looks preposterous.

Costello is not there today. Make a change. Play everyone and see who really wants it.

They SHOULD be doubting: Doubting their coach and his staff and a non-existent S&C program after years of expertise (Turley), a complacent recruiting program, and an outdated approach to offense. Shaw cannot attract the athletes he needs and can no longer do much with what he gets. He cites the fundamental importance of line play, yet whiffs on everything necessary to maintain one. Yes, we are witnessing regression to the mean. It's back to mediocre (at best) Stanford football, which has always been a fragile enterprise save for a brief shining string of recentr years. But at the moment, we're flirting with haplessness. Next stop, Rice territory. Never thought it would happen so quickly.

I agree with this. I think the only thing I would say is there is a fine line between the notion of "resting on our laurels" and
"losing the forest for the trees". Systemically, I agree it has been awful today, and doesn't look good for this season.
I still think we will eke our way to a bowl, but it is definitely in doubt at this point.
However, as I keep saying, Shaw's previous worst year in eight years has been 8-5. Shaw has never had a truly down year
(though this season is looking like that), which cannot be said for Helton, Chip, Peterson or a bunch of other Pac-12 coaches
that got fired.
I think we can point out the issues while still recognizing Shaw's remarkable run up until this point.

Gail, I wish we had an outdated approach to offense. Right now, we have no approach to the offense. It’s just throw a bunch of plays out and see if any work. Quick, tell me what our offensive philosophy is. As lex put it in another post, at least a few years ago we had an identity, even if it was “outdated”. And it was an identity that worked.

"Brief"? We have gone a decade with at least 8 wins every year. Literally every other program in the Pac-12 hasn't achieved that.
This is my point from above: we can point out the issues currently (and possibly moving forward), but the last 10 years of Stanford football has been sustained excellence.

Our defense has given up 83 points in the last game and a half. How historic is that? It most likely will go over 100 by the end of this game.
Toohill wants to play!
Wilson wants to play!
Pull Costello. He's not on today. Give West a chance. This game is lost.
Gotta go for it!
Nice blocking. First down!
Costello is locked on Colby. We need to involve other receivers.
