Podcast with Karlie and Katie Lou Samuelson. They talk about playing together and the coaching styles of both Tara and Geno, plus other things.
Karlie does mention that she wants to coach.

As I watch some of the game replays, I'm reminded of a question I never asked:
Is Lexie and Lacie's last name pronounced the same as the English word hull, which rhymes with mull, cull, dull, gull, lull, and null?
Or does it rhyme with wool, bull, full, and pull, the way the Colorado announcer pronounces it?
Or do some people pronounce all those words with the same vowel sound and I just never noticed?

How do you know academics weren't important? Unless there is proof otherwise, I presume that academics are important to all Stanford students, especially if they graduate in four years with a double major.

I assume the "academics aren't important is a dig at Baylor. It's hard to forget that in the Final 4 in Denver, the players were introduced with their majors and of the 5 Baylor starters that Stanford faced, 4 were majoring in something that sounded an awful lot like PE. (A check the next day on the Baylor website revealed that the major included credit for things like being on a varsity team and other such.)

To the extent that you can believe USNWR, Oregon is ranked 104, UConn is ranked 64, and Baylor is ranked 79.

Sorry, BC, but I don't think you can deduce that from her final 3. The USNWR rankings that you cite are for undergraduate programs, so, given that DJC will be working on her master's degree, they are irrelevant. Also irrelevant are the majors of her teammates.
Let me put it another way: from her Twitter feed, DJC has made it clear how proud she is of her academic achievements at Stanford. So, now that she has spurned Stanford and decided to transfer into a graduate program at a rival university, we've decided that academics are unimportant to her?

IIRC, in that interview she did a few weeks back, she pretty much said that now that she had her "two degrees" academics were no longer something she had to prove.

If you're talking about the interview with John Canzano of the Oregonian, DJC states that, after basketball, she wants to be a forensic psychologist or behavior profiler. Although it's over a year old, in DJC's "Stanford Story" video, she says that she wants to get a master's or PhD in Psychology.
Given her post-basketball career goals, it only makes sense that academics still matter to DJC. According to Baylor's website, they have faculty members in both the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience and the Department of Anthropology who teach forensics.
In any case, it sounds like I'm not convincing a lot of folks, so I guess we can agree to disagree.

Don't assume you aren't convincing people just because the convinced remain silent. I didn't jump in here because, frankly, it feels kind of judgmental either way, and I kind of don't think it's any of our business. Lord almighty am I glad members of the public weren't speculating and sneering at my choices of majors and grad programs when I was 22. What she does on the court is fair game for public scrutiny, but as far as I'm concerned, her educational pursuits are her own business and we should encourage all of our alums to be successful at whatever they pursue, regardless of where they do it, rather than mock the comparative prestige of their choice of program.
Carrington did great things for Stanford basketball while earning dual degrees. I wish her well in the next stage of her career, and I am confident she will find career success regardless of where she begins her graduate studies. She will always bleed Cardinal red, and I will always look fondly on her time as a member of the WBB team.

I don't think Carrington should be judged on the basis of what she is doing for one year of graduate school. But I would be surprised if academics turned out to have been the driving force on her decision as to where to transfer to. That doesn't mean that academics isn't important to her (and I apologize if I intimated otherwise).

Well said. My comment re Baylor was about its approach to athletes and academics, but there is no reason to assume that applies to grad school. If Baylor has the programs she wants, it may well be a good choice for her.
