Both teams look very good at offense. We will have trouble against either if we get to face them. I am leaning towards Baylor as I'm not sure if we could stop Bueckers. Richards is a terrific defender, and it doesn't seem as if she's affecting PB much. Anna may not be any more successful.
Carrington knows Stanford very well, but Tara also knows her just as well. I haven't been as impressed by the other Baylor players so far. I'd rather play against Baylor's fireplug guard than the lightning-quick Yukon guard. I also like that Baylor is not much of a three-point shooting team. Lastly, it will be nice to get Tara a couple of more wins cushion over Gene-O.

I'm rooting for Baylor. I think Tara could scheme a defense/offense to beat Baylor easier than UConn. But I would be happy facing either as it would mean we reached the national championship game.

UConn went on a 17-0 run to take control of the game, and they are trying to hold on, up by 3 with a minute left.

Has UConn really played only one substitute?

Baylor's Smith a tough player to guard, don't match up well with her

It's worth noting that UConn only went on the big run after Baylor lost a big contributor in Richards who was playing defense on Paige.

Carrington had a chance for the game-winning bucket but was blocked.

That was total BS. Carrington was MAULED. UConn gets a gift.

That was a foul on Carrington. Refs swallowed their whistles.

The refs are going to call that zero times in one hundred.

Not if UConn was shooting the ball.

Agreed. If the situation was reversed with Bueckers shooting, the refs would definitely have called the foul on Baylor.

My comment was made in full knowledge that UConn was the perpetrator.

Carrington could come back again next year, correct? This was not necessarily her last game, given that everyone gets a free pass this year. Take a second year to get that MA degree, improve her stock for a possible pro career?
Or was that mugging she took at the end the last play of her collegiate career?

dijonai finally fulfills her potential coming out of high school. best player on the floor over the last 10 minutes.
dijonai was fouled on the last play - both on the body and on the arm. that said, she drove into a triple team, so someone should have been wide open.
baylor was the better team until richards went down, and they still should have won.
UConn is good but beatable. i think we can defend UConn as well as baylor did.

Not only were arms laid against her shooting arms, she took an elbow to the face. It was such a foul!!!!! Sort of amazing!
OOOO, Arizona game announcer said, "was it a controversy? yes. Was it a foul? Yes"

Watching those two coaches makes me appreciate Tara even more. I cannot stand to watch coaches screaming at their players and complaining about every ref call. The Baylor coach also appeared to care little about Richards when she got injured. She kept screaming at the trainer to get her ready to go back in. That girl should have never gone back on the court, but Kim put her back in even though she was limping. She didn't last long because she was really injured.
Also, Carrington spends an inordinate amount of time adjusting her hair. You would think that she could check her vanity and put it up so that she could concentrate on basketball and not her hair. She is an amazing player, no doubt. </rant>
I would much rather beat UCONN in the finals.

It's only a foul if they call it, and Carrington, a fifth year senior, should know better than to go up against a triple team by UConn with the game on the line in the NCAA tournament. Maybe if it were some no-name team in a meaningless Big-12 game that would be a foul, but you have to understand the circumstances you are in and who the opponent is and know that the refs will swallow their whistle unless it is so blatant they have no choice. Not saying that it shouldn't have been called, but that's little comfort to Carrington and the Bears, who, good call or bad are facing a long plane ride back home.

Watching Arizona vs. Indiana--it is quite clear that neither of these teams is at the level of either of the last two.
Doesn't mean that if the stars all aligned that the winner of this could not beat UConn--but I would guess about a 1.5% chance.
