Maybe a typo?

Yes, it was a typo thank you
I heard rumblings that JuJu was not happening for Stanford.  All third-hand stuff, so take with vat of salt.
Hope that is incorrect.  She is a unique talent and, like Rice, will be an immediate starter/impact player wherever she ends up.

Well at least great Watkins visited Stanford recently

Great song and so true
Love Briggs although I’ve only seen highlights

RE: Class of 2023+ - joemontes - 04-12-2022

2023 top post player and #3 overall 6'3 Cierra TOOMEY picks North Carolina over UConn.

Wow! Good for her! One of bolder commitments I've seen in a while. She looks spectacular on film.

Any info on 2025 guard Addison Deal from SoCal?  MaxPreps just named her one of the top players in the class of 2025.  And it seems like Kate Paye and Katy Steding recently started following her on twitter.

RE: Class of 2023+ - BobK - 04-20-2022

I added Deal. Thanks Bos Card

Appears she is the real Deal.

RE: Class of 2023+ - BosCard - 04-20-2022

2024 potential recruit Jordan Lee was invited to the U17 national team tryouts (I think just 35 players total).  Hard to know who else was invited as this was a post on her Twitter vs a list of the other invitees.

An area HS coach has really great things to say about Morgan Cheli - he thinks she'll be an immediate difference maker. She is 2024 but one to keep an eye on. Apparently we already made her an offer. BTW: He likes Lepolo but says she has a glaring deficiency in the shooting department.

...and which we hope she knows about and is currently addressing and relentlessly working on, for Stanford WCBB's sake....

If Lepolo can handle the ball and control an offense, we don’t need her to score. It would open up Jones to generate more offense. And she can feed Brink, Belibi, and Betts all day long.

This is not an endorsement saying she can do that. But if she can, we don’t need her to have a shot. Ball handling is what the team needs.

I heavily disagree; if she can't shoot, it will be like Sniezek all over again. Defenses can sag off of Lepolo and double team someone else, whether it be Jones, Brink or Betts. The fifth player can aggressively pair up with a teammate and not worry about rushing back to defend an open Lepolo. She doesn't have to score 15 pts per game, but she has to be at least like Wilson, where defenses know if they leave her open, she will shoot and make that shot. Playing 4 on 5 is not what you want.

Looks like she has Kiana's little 7 foot floater which, for whatever reason, neither Lexie nor Lacey were able to master. Of course, it would help if she could put up a 3 now and then.

RE: Class of 2023+ - 2006alum - 04-27-2022

Agree that we need her to be a credible outside threat to be running things from the top of the key. But her floaters looked good and she looked far more comfortable taking jump shots from 5-10 feet out than Sniezek ever did - Sniezek only ever wanted to drive. She also has strong one handed baseball passes like Wilson could do so well.

Of course, it all needs to translate to the next level. But she looks promising. Maybe Van Gytenbeek thought so too?

I agree that Lepolo looks different from Sniezek.  Most of Lepolo’s shots were floaters in the lane.  Those shots are going to be there for her in the college game.  Sniezek always wanted to drive for a layup and those are going to get blocked a lot I’m college.  Plus Lepolo seemed liked she had a faster or more deceptive first step vs Sniezek.  Lepolo will have a lot to prove but hopefully she (or Nivar or Harriel) can step into the ball handling guard role we need.

RE: Class of 2023+ - dcnav - 04-27-2022

From that video it looks like at least Lepolo can make those little short floaters/chip shots. It looks like she always goes right which will need to change. The comment about her shot was that it is very flat and actually has a sideways rotation so not clear how fixable that would be. He thinks her 'bulk' is used to advantage and she has a deceptively quick first step. She's in good shape (unlike Owusu) but I see some Owusu characteristics there. That's a positive.
