We are up 14-0 in fast break points and have scored 15 points off their turnovers in the first half. Push the pace and I like the full court press we put on. Hawaii could barely get it across a few times and we scored points off their miscues.

Did I hear the ESPN+ announcer say that Prechtel had a concussion or was not playing prior game due to concussion protocol? It was during the 1st half.

The 3rd quarter was quite forgettable. We lose the quarter 15-11. Ugh.

She can get into a shooting zone, as Louisville knows.

Just when Jump goes cold.
Brink has played 28 minutes and only has 1 foul. Also, 15 points and 9 rebounds.

Announcers have given up calling the game. Cowards.

For those NOT watching on TV and worried after the critique here ... there's 3 minutes left in the 4th and Stanford leads 62-37. Go Cardinal!

Betts blew our perfect FT shooting with 1-4 FT shooting in the last 2 minutes of the game.
Pretty forgettable game. We won 68-39. I think this is our lowest scoring of the season. We never got into any kind of rhythm. Sure, Ashten hit 5 threes, but Jump was 1-6 from downtown. Perhaps our gals are a bit tired after playing so many games in such a short timeframe.

Well, a win and on to the airport for a long flight home. But that did not seem like a particularly inspiring win. Prechtel had a good game, Lepolo had 3 fouls and was beaten a couple of times--so her defense has a ways to go, but she also had 8 assists and continues to look like a starting point guard. Jump was off tonight.
For those of you with eyes on the game, any clues as to our lackluster offense? Defense was solid.

I watched the game. We just didn't seem to have a lot of pep in our step. Jump, Jones, and Brink all had pretty mediocre games. Brink missed several close shots she normally makes and Jones/Jump didn't have efficient shooting games. Prechtel was the bright spot. I thought when we pressed early on and turned them over, it sped up our transition offensive and we got easy buckets or open looks. We had zero fast break points in the 2nd half when the game became more of a slog. It was pretty uninspiring. We looked tired after 3 games in 3 days.

It didn't seem like we ran the offense effectively. Many possessions turned into one player trying to make something happen because the set play didn't work. We had 14 turnovers and 13 assists. Many of our paint points came as the result of our taller player just overpowering the smaller defenders. There were not a lot of crisp entry passes and smooth post moves. Also, we missed a lot of layups in the paint. I didn't get the sense that we were as focused as usual.
That being said, I think our players enjoyed themselves in Hawaii. They seem to like playing together and are having fun. If they are happy and winning, then I am happy too. Aloha

Wasn’t our opponent playing their 3rd game in 3 days? And they have far fewer subs

Yes, and they shot 20% to our 40%. So, maybe they were tired too.

Fixed it for you. We jumped out to a large lead, won easily and almost doubled our opponent's score. They can't all be offensive gems.
Sometimes I think we specialize in finding the cloud inside every silver lining.

Pesky arithmetic.

It was a relaxing game to watch. We missed many short baskets that might’ve haunted us against better competition but didn’t really hurt us here. Lepolo’s defense and passing were more than capable but she seemed to lack the confidence (or green light) to take open shots. She’ll be just fine. Overall defense made UH work hard for every possession. I can’t complain. Well done, Cardinal!
