Stanford up 2-0 over CBU after three innings.  Aggressive base running once again does not pay off.

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - BobK - 03-15-2025

Stanford won 5-1. Zoe with the win Kern with another HR plus 2 Doubles

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - paloalto - 03-15-2025

Stanford vs Nevada-Reno game 1.  Houston in a zone; six strikeouts in three innings.  This pitching staff is coming along quite nicely; exceeding my expectations.

To be fair the Nevada-Reno pitcher has seven strikeouts after three innings.

Houston pitches a magnificent four innings.  Chung comes in relief in the fifth and gives up a home run to make score 1-1.  Explanation please for this pitching change?

Have to manage the staff with really only 3 pitchers. Also, try to keep the Wolfpack hitters off balance by going to a different style pitcher.

We should have scored Jade on her triple; stranding a runner on third with no outs is not good offense.

And the Stanford offense makes a statement in the bottom of the sixth. 3 runs from the Cardinal have Stanford three outs from a win.

Stanford wins 4-1.  Houston comes back in for the seventh inning.   Pitching staff holds Nevada to one hit.

I didn't realize that a pitcher could come back in after being taken out, but if I read the scorecard right, Chung pitched the fifth and got the first out in the sixth before Houston came back to pitch the rest of the sixth and the first out of the seventh.  Is that right?

BC

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - BobK - 03-15-2025

No BC. The pitcher was moved to DP thus stayed in the game.

The benefits of having a fantastic lineup 1-9. The position players are all great hitters, so the DP doesn't even have to hit if Kylie is pitching (who picked up a hit and an RBI).

Is Gall injured?

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - BobK - 03-15-2025

Injured or something. I don’t know about this weekend but she wasn’t present last weekend

In the bottom of the fourth Stanford up 2-0 against Nevada Reno.  Koch with a very nice catch of a ball that would have hit the fence if she hadn't caught it.

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - paloalto - 03-16-2025

Stanford beats Nevada 2-1 using all three pitchers again.

Stanford is #4 in NCAA RPI.  Stanford has the best RPI in the ACC.  There is a substantial disconnect between NCAA RPI and polls.

Stanford plays Notre Dame tomorrow at 3:00 pm PT.   In football ND is good; in softball not so good.  It will be interesting to see how Stanford does in the three games at ND in very cold, windy weather.

According to the South Bend weather report it was 30 degrees F this morning at 9:00am.  Here are pictures of the players taking batting practice in shorts.  I would be bundled up.

Looks like they're indoors.

Hopefully it warms up by game time.

Stanford on a rampage against ND to start the game.  Up 8-0 in the first and left three runners on base.

I think Coach Allister could have easily piled more on if she had Kylie Chung hit for herself, as opposed to having Kylie Buckley hit. But this team is absolutely rolling right now.

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - BobK - 03-21-2025

10-0 now. Buckley was an excellent recruit getting her chance

RE: Stanford Softball 2025 - d4cohn - 03-21-2025

Stanford softball with perhaps its most dominant performance of the season with a 10-0 dismantling of Notre Dame in the minimum of 5 innings. The game was so lopsided that it was over before Notre Dame even recorded the first out of the game (6-0 at that point).
