Talley rolled through the semis 6 and 4.
She is matched against the top qualifier in the finals. Talley made 7 birdies in the morning and has a 3 up lead after 18 holes of the 36 hole final.

Talley is 6-up through 28. You never want to jinx someone in stroke match play because anything can happen, but she’d have to lose 6 of the next 8 holes to lose the championship. Iwanga has only won 4 holes in the first 28, so things are looking good for Talley.

Really hope she comes to Stanford and waits a few years before turning pro. Given the importance of match play for national titles, it’s great to have a commit who can come in and win 6 consecutive match plays over 7 rounds, and do so with relative ease.

In a post match interview, asked what the victory meant to her, she said it represented the culmination of her amateur career. Hopefully she meant pre-collegiate amateur career.

Hard to imagine a Solheim Cup squad being more “Stanford” than this year’s: Andrea Lee was an automatic qualifier, Rose Zhang is one of the three Captain’s picks, and, of course, that 2026 Captain is… Angela STANFORD. :-)

Stanford has added another commitment - Mia Clausen from Carlsbad. She joins Aphrodite Deng and Clairey Lin in the class of 2028.

Clausen is currently ranked 237th in WAGR and is the #4 recruit in the class of 2028 according to collegegolfcommits.com (Deng and Lin are 1 and 2). She is a young player who has mostly played junior tournaments and is just moving up this summer to more amateur tournaments. Seems to have a lot of upside.
Clausen will join her fellow San Diego-area golfer Anna Fang (class of 2027 commitment) at Stanford.
