Stanford has a Shipley type coming in this year. Casey Filkins. Love the one you’re with guys.

I am very sanguine on Filkins. EJ Smith too. Both RBs coming in this year look like all-around weapons. Austin Jones, Nathaniel Peat, and these two will make a pretty insane RB corps in a year or two. Massive shift in philosophy to recruiting these all-purpose types of RB - all four of the youngsters can catch it out of the backfield. Of course in this coming class Shipley is one, but more recent offer/realistic target 4* Prophet Brown from Sacramento is one too. And a burner to boot. 10.9 100m speed.
By the way, yes, Shipley to Clemson. He'll be great and I'm glad the Domers didn't get him.

A) great news that Shipley is not going to the Domers
B) the shift in philosophy occurred about 5 years ago, when some guy named McCaffrey was a pretty good weapon out of the backfield. In fact, I believe he was our leading receiver back then.

No on B)...Trevor Speights, Sione Lund (who is now a LB at Utah), and Justus Woods were all power backs. The pure "all-around back" recruiting trend started when Pritchard became OC.

I am pretty sure if Toby Gerhart II showed up we would recruit him.

Another S offer out. Pretty clear to me staff (rightly so) wants 2-3 of them. 3.73 GPA, state-ranked high jumper and baseball player. Quite the long offer list with Harvard for good measure.

Low HJ might be a technique issue. My best high jump was 6'2" and I had a 29" vertical, but I worked on it like crazy and had a terrific coach. if he doesn't HJ much, his vertical could be anywhere from 32" to 38". Jerry Rice's vertical was 35".

2 more safety offers from GA and TX. Lots of offers this cycle to legit safeties, not "positionally flexible cornerbacks." Those have tended not to work out for us, though Kendall Williamson hasn't been bad.
Moore reports a 4.13 GPA.

FWIW, 247 just put in a few predictions for DL Armitage to USC after he had mostly Stanford ones until then. And Derek Wilkins has three predictions, all for Cal. Perhaps this could explain more DL offers?
I can't remember the last Stanford admitted recruit who chose Cal over Stanford. Times might be changing.

I believe Brennan Scarlett was admitted but choose to go to Cal and then grad transferred to Stanford
