This weekend (June 23rd) per the recruiting site 247 Stanford is scheduled to host 6 players on their official visits. Three players have committed to other schools one of which is a qb who recently committed to Mizzou after E. Brown committed to Stanford. Two of the remaining uncommitted are listed as four stars. Anybody have any insights if all six players will be taking their visit?

Half the players are missing. There were originally at least 13 players slated to visit. 5-6 are now committed elsewhere and likely not visiting (including those you see on 247), while one (Brandon Nicholson, who 247 missed) committed to us already.

Wow!! 24 commits already including seven 4 stars, and a heavily recruited QB. The rest, except one I think, are 3 stars. Fairly amazing!!! Are there more? I guess so since there are visits this weekend.

It is interesting in any case. One could be optimistic and say with the three summer quarters he can get his degree in three years :-).

The pitch from most colleges apparently is three to four years. It maybe-probably stands out if the pitch is different, as it did for a Penn State lineman recruit:

Right now (based on the 247 ratings) this class is just about at Stanford's recruiting median in the Pac 12/Shaw era. A few more good recruits and this will be among our better classes. Quite a recovery from last season.

Found these quotes from QB Elijah Brown, DL Dylan Stephenson, and recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman:

Brown:
“It’s been a different feel than the past couple of years,” Brown said of the Cardinal’s recruiting efforts while competing at the Elite 11 Finals last week. “Obviously, they’re doing something because a lot of people are committing. I think they’re on the right path.”

Stephenson:
“It was definitely a little shocking,” said Stephenson, a Miami native. “I didn’t expect to see them go so hard after me or other kids. I kind of didn’t see that out of the program. Then it happened, I was like, ‘Oh, wow, I have to pay more attention to Stanford.’ That was before my first visit, and it’s taken off since then.”

Huffman:
“It’s been clear that they realize Stanford still has a name,” 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman said. “You can still get good players and be attractive, but you just have to put a little elbow grease into the recruitment.”

Recruiting success doesn't happen by accident. I knew there had to be some real effort and drive behind getting these commitments Taylor has secured. This article in The Athletic sheds light on what that is. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Stanford wins more games than expected this year because intense competitive drive behind recruiting will also manifest on the field.

It looks like Troy Taylor is a mild mannered guy, but underneath that surface is a fire breathing dragon of a competitor that you must be to win in college football.

I'd like to join you on that limb.
I believe attitude, spirit, determination, and other such qualities are not always captured on paper analyses.
We've lived through seasons of the Cardinal being ranked well on paper but not having the onfield success.
I'm hopeful that this upcoming season we will have the opposite, due to the aforementioned intangibles.
That is, an on-paper team that's not too impressive, and yet can outperform when on the field.
And that even better players look to be joining the program next season.

Loving the (literal and figurative) size of the class.

WRT a quick turnaround: caveat emptor. The best turnaround artists in the sport, with similarly rough initial rosters, were almost unanimously still terrible in year one due to said similarly rough rosters. Harbaugh's first team won 4 games. This thing is gonna take a couple years, but I'm really looking forward to those years!
