With Williams at the point and Jones/Hulls helping, few teams tried to press in the backcourt. I expect we will see the press a lot until Stanford shows that they can handle it. Should be interesting.

Great that she's a possibility but as so many others have said, sure would be nice to have a PG come in
I still think a high chance Kiki Rice is coming our way. I know some have lessened their their thoughts on the likelihood of her coming, but I personally still think a great chance she is coming our way.
I also think everybody is underestimating Jana. I actually had a slight preference to her in over Kiana last season (ready for the onslaught of disagreement ?) as she has a very interesting demeanor … aggressive and urgent yet calm and poised at the same time, and she showed she can shoot and pass while remaining collected. I’m really excited to see her this coming season.
I love Jana and her game. I just wished she had shown a little more quickness this past year, especially on defense. That said, typically the biggest leap forward is from Frosh to Soph years, so I’m excited to see where her game is at as the seasons begins. She has displayed Sniezek-like passing skills and a Karie-like touch from the outside. Fingers crossed that it all starts to come together soon.
All good points re Jana. I do think she has great potential, and I, too, love that poise.

I updated the list earlier plus Johnson to Robert Morris
The List: It comes from some inside but mostly social media. Sometimes the athlete but mostly if a Stanford coach or Stanford WBB is following on Twitter or other. Lots of my info comes from posters here which is awesome.
However we don’t know who the priorities are well except Point Guard :). We don’t see transcripts and remember a number of AP classs are needed not just I’ll take two as a Sr

Thanks for all this, Bob. Also, I don't ever recall a good discussion about how recruiting responsibilities are divided/shared. Are recruiting responsibilities split up by region? by position/position coach? Are there few enough targets that everyone has roughly equal responsibility for each target recruit? How active is Tara in recruiting relative to the other coaches? Finally, who is our best recruiter?

I only know when I was a FBC board member. Then Amy the coordinator and the contact and video was divided between the other two assistants. Hard to believe with all the success that Tara has changed this but then she has changed the offense several times so maybe it has.
Tara would go to the big travel tournaments

Uconn board says Kiki Rice recently cut Maryland from her list so down to a final 10.

Lauren Betts and the U-19 team played against Italy. I am really excited for her to join Stanford because for someone her size she actually elevates off the floor and doesn't rely just on her height and length which is what majority of the tall players do.
The game is on the Fiba youtube page along with the rest of the U-19 games.
Really wish we could have picked up Citron. She had a nice game today

here's a page showing the favorite colleges of applicants from sidwell friends, kiki's school:
penn, brown, columbia, georgetown, yale, virginia, nyu, michigan, harvard, stanford.
and here's a list from sidwell friends. colleges with 5 or more sidwell grads are bold-faced.

Thanks for posting the video. I hope there is room for diversity of opinion on this board. I didn't think Betts was as quick, aggressive, or polished as Brink was in her freshman year at Stanford. Of course in a year or two things could change dramatically. Obviously Betts will be a challenge for opponents under the basket.

i had the same thought; but then i seem to recall that brink was not nearly as good as a junior in high school as at the end of her stanford freshman year. we knew she was good, but not this good.

i had the same thought; but then i seem to recall that brink was not nearly as good as a junior in high school as at the end of her stanford freshman year. we knew she was good, but not this good.
Agree. Betts is still in high school where all these other girls she is going against are in college or pros. Also, Brink is on a level of her own. She can be the next superstar if she continues at the pace she showed her freshman year. Betts is 6'7 and it shows in her movements but she is averaging 15/7 in the U-19 tournament going up against college players and some professionals. I don't know if you can compare the two.

watching the japanese olympic women's basketball team lose to usa, i noticed their skill at the 3-point shot and found myself wondering if they have any similarly talented high school juniors, with good grades. i hadn't thought of japan as a possible source of recruits until yesterday.

I only saw the first quarter so far and saw Betts close to being a plodder. I didn't see her beat anybody up or down court. It looks like quickness is not one of her best attributes. I did like her shooting. She seems accurate in the paint, although she missed her 2 free throws.
She is playing against college undergrads so that needs to be taken into consideration. Naturally, she'll improve her skills more, but there is only so much quickness that you can attain through training if you're not blessed with that natural ability.
She should be starting over Ware on that team.
