Ohio State's loss should be helpful for our seeding.

UConn vs. Tennessee coming up on Thursday.  Wouldn't it be nice for Tennessee to get a signature win.

That's a really nice win for Iowa.  And bad news for Ohio State.  I think Maryland and Indiana are better than Iowa and Ohio State still has to play both teams twice (not including the Big 10 tournament).  So there could be a lot of movement in the rankings before all is said and done.  So many good Big 10 WBB teams this season.

EDIT: And wow, I just saw that Clark had a triple double of 28 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists. That's insane.

Clark is insanely good. Occasional mediocre game but mostly super. She will do well in the WNBA.

Unranked Texas leading #14 Oklahoma 52-40 mid way through 3rd quarter. Of particular interest, Rori Harmon started and is playing.

I see Texas won by 20.  Harmon is a real difference maker.  She was out for the UConn game.  I imagine that game would have been a lot tougher for UConn had she played.

Lots of good top 25 games on today, many on TV. Includes #2 Ohio State vs #6 Indiana at 5:30 on Big Ten Net, #5 U Conn vs not-ranked but surging Tennessee on ESPN at 5 pm; #13 Michigan vs #10 Maryland at 3:30 on Big Ten Network; #12 Virginia Tech vs #16 Duke at 5:00 on ACC Network.

maryland and notre dame won. with games in progress, looking like uconn, duke, indiana.

UConn looked very good tonight in a very hostile gym, taking down Tennessee 84-67.  That is a lot of points against the Tennessee defense.  Lou Lopez-Senechal is a revelation.  I'd just as soon not face them this year--they look like a more dangerous opponent than South Carolina--at least tonight.

UConn is darn lucky last year’s MAAC player of the year had a COVID year.

UConn fans have high expectations. I was watching part of the Boneyard chat and a few of them were dumping on one of their players who played 38 minutes with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 5 assists ( only 2 TOs) for getting beat to a couple rebounds and a bad pass or two.

I know everyone loves to hate on UConn but it’s pretty incredible with how few bodies and little bench they have that their starters can play at such a high level and pace of play for 40 minutes and still execute at the highest level. There starters scored all 84 points and shot 55% tonight vs Tennessee while holding TN under 40% and below 70. We could learn a few things about offensive execution and conditioning from them. We are supposedly deep so can use our bench more but we are not that well conditioned and look at how we’ve performed on the back half of conference games the last few weeks. We looked tired.

It is amazing how they do it and perhaps the conditioning means their practices are more intense than others' -- so they are prepared well for the duration of the game (especially after rest/light day before the game). Then again, I wonder if the injuries are the tradeoff.

UConn has cut back on the intensity of their practices since their injuries in early December, but they are usually well conditioned.  They showed some signs of being tired in the 2nd and 4th quarters, but pulled away with some timely 3s in the 3rd.

I remember a quote from Tara a few years back that with the media timeouts in a 4 quarter game the team should be well conditioned enough to not need a timeout to catch their breath.

Geno did say Tennessee's big quarter over UConn (the 2nd) happened when the UConn players got tired.  For one quarter UConn looked, frankly, terrible.  

If you look at minutes played we are not using more depth in any one game than most other schools.  However, different bench players play in different games--almost as if we had specialists for different opponents.  But there are rarely more than 7 players in double digit minutes.  There are several Pac 12 schools that routinely give 8-9 players double digit minutes, but we are not among them.  But over several games you will see more of our players being used--just not all at the same time.

Arizona lost at Tucson today to WSU. Colorado got crushed at Boulder by USC. Oregon State, after pushing Stanford to the end on Friday, lost to Cal.

It's a brutally competitive conference top to bottom. But every single team wants to be where Stanford is - 1st place.
