Re: Class of 2016 - Hurlburt88 - 01-30-2016

I just saw on news that Notre Dame extended Kelly by 6 years, and also used some 18 wheeler to visit Robertson this week as part of their final push.  Sick to my stomach . . .

Calling Hulk, re: Gilman - FrankO - 01-30-2016

Had never heard of Gilman... until way back during Buddy ball and Wlat, on the bootleg, recall Hulk drooling over then year coveted prospects from Gilman... which we then always seemed to lose out on...

don't know how back in those days he was able to find and follow all these kids from schools that many of us had never heard of...

He noted then that Gilman (fairly exclusive private school) had both great academics and great football tradition, with strong coaching staff...

Obviously Devery Hamilton a great get at OT, all the sweeter since he picked us and Shaw over Michigan and Harbaugh... but Dorian Maddox, though only a two star,  a strong and very tough inside runner... my guess is he does very well at Stanford

Hamilton, McCullough, Stewart, Powell, Pryts all are admitted it seems and have Stanford as an option.

Does anyone know how many scholarships are left to give? Simi will be going on a mission. But, isn't there a recruit coming back from a mission and a line backer from last year that will be joining the team?
The numbers are starting to get interesting.

There are now 23 commits listed on Rivals.

Presumably 2 are going on a mission: Fehoko and Kaufusi.
Presumably 1 coming back from troubles last year: Fox
[Though we haven't heard much about him in some time. There was some kind of "we expect him next fall" statement awhile back.]

That would put us at 22. Maximum of 3 spots availble - perhaps 4.
Outsider lists 5 admits who have not committed.
Presumably either not all 5 are able to commit, or somebody already on the list won't be at Stanford on scholarship next fall.
I would guess that there are a few 5th year players who will or won't get invited back depending on how many slots are open after recruiting.

There will be no shortage of schollies for 5th years. The problem is the max of 25 for an entering class. Right now, there are 26 total guys among Stanford's commits plus reportedly admitted offerees plus Fox. That means attrition of at least one, either due to admissions or choosing another school or whatever.  And that doesn't include Robertson.

Here are some potential 5th-year seniors who I hope will get a chance next year: Conner Crane, Nick Davidson, Chris Harrell, Nate Lohn and Jordan Watkins (not least Harrell after how he filled in for Marx).

Re: Class of 2016 - BobK - 01-30-2016

2 are going on a mission. None are returning this year from a mission.  2 are returning next year
We have room for 4 more.  I'm counting Fox as a commit

We have 23 commits 2 going on a mission. 5 in play but 4 admitted and landing all 5 does t seem possible

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 01-30-2016

Bobk, who is in play?

I have these admitted: Powell, Stewart, McCullough, Pryts

Who is the not admitted #5 in play?

Re: Class of 2016 - BobK - 01-30-2016

I can't say because it is just a long shot.  And I apologize for being so nasty to you about him.    But you named 4 and Stewart announces tonight

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 01-30-2016

It sure seems Robertson has moved from the no shot to long shot category.

What an ostentatious waste of gas.

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 01-30-2016

Then I'm sure the birthday cakes Harbaugh gets to wish recruits happy birthday are violations also.  Pretty clear "public demonstration" of interest in a recruit I'd say.

Re: Class of 2016 - washingtonismoney - 01-30-2016

Modest ratings, but offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Iowa, Washington State...

Re: Class of 2016 - Rally - 01-30-2016

David Perry was a walk-on.  Arizona told Martinez he wasn't good enough for D1.

Re: Class of 2016 - DC - 01-30-2016

Wonder whether the other receiver would have gotten an offer if Stewart had committed earlier.

AWESOME!!!  :D

Shaping up to be a fascinating class, geographically - numbers-wise, really strong years on the east coast and Texas, about normal for the southeast, Midwest and California and no kids from the NW or Arizona for the first time that I can remember in years
