Shimp just bladed a straightforward chip on 15 into the hazard. Looks like he will lose the hole and fall back to 1 up.

I still think Snyder will pull it out.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - Spiny_Norman - 05-29-2019

Chervony hit the flagstick on 12. The ball ended up about 10 feet away. But Snyder made it even easier by missing the green and getting a double bogey. Snyder fell 2 down.

But on the 13th, he had a 6 footer to win the hole. He made it to get back to 1 down.

Shimp piped his drive on 16. Good recovery after his nervous miss on 15.

Wu remains 3 up with 4 to play.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - martyup - 05-29-2019

Salinda took his match 4&3.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - BostonCard - 05-29-2019

Salinda halves the 15th and wins 4&3.

Super impressive given how Hammer had steamrolled his previous 2 matches.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - Spiny_Norman - 05-29-2019

Shimp stiffed his approach on 16 and made birdie to go 2 up with 2 to play!

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - martyup - 05-29-2019

Shimp is really focused.  He will win.  I can see it in his eyes.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - BostonCard - 05-29-2019

To summarize:
1-1 in the clubhouse
Shimp up 2 with two to play
Wu up 3 with four to play
Snyder down 1 with five to play

On 17, a par 3, Shimp is 15 feet away. Soosman is in the bunker.

He can half the hole and still win right?

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - Spiny_Norman - 05-29-2019

Wu just won 4 and 3.

Shimp has 2 putts to win the national championship.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - BostonCard - 05-29-2019

Wu wins 15 and takes his match 4&3.  Shimp can clinch!

Congrats to our guys - what a way to peak at the right time of the season, and to come back from that horrible +24 round of stroke play. So many clutch performances through match play to come away with the championship.

GO CARDINAL!!!

---

And that makes it 6 national championships for this 2018-19 academic year, tying our all-time record of 6 during the 1996-1997 season. Given how much more competitive college athletics are today than they were 20+ years ago, that truly is an achievement.

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - terry - 05-29-2019

What a year! Six NCAA championships in a year!

Championship # 123!

RE: NCAA Championship - men's golf - Spiny_Norman - 05-29-2019

The guy who lost both matches yesterday was the hero who clinched it today.

Wu and Salinda both 3-0 in match play.

Snyder clinched the quarterfinal win.

Tuleubayev clinched the semifinal win.

It was a true team victory. Everyone needed to contribute for it to happen.

Congratulations to the team and Coach Ray!!!!!!!!!!!

And two of those six championships were in men's sports.  I think the last time Stanford won two men's NCAA team titles was 2002.
