RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 04-02-2022

I believe he was called "you-ber" from his first outing, but the recent (not today) tv guys were wrong pronouncing it like the rideshare company.
He has gone 3IP so far (previous high was 4). He's a big boy! (listed at 6'3", 230lbs)

RE: Stanford Baseball - TonyLima - 04-02-2022

Top 4 Stanford runners at 1, 2. Montgomery hits a hard grounder up the middle. Ball ricochets off the pitcher’s leg straight to 1b. Does the pitcher get an assist? Asking for a friend

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 04-02-2022

Uber threw 27 pitches B4 and gave up 2 runs (but he completed 4IP). Needed only 40 pitches for the first 3 innings. Beavs lead 2-0 after 4.

Crampton BB
Jones doubled to RC gap (finally ripped one!)
Lomuscio sac fly
Graham rbi single
Now tied at 2 and still hitting!

RE: Stanford Baseball - Phogge - 04-02-2022

Pitcher gets an assist. And maybe a bone bruise. I got one at Sunken in '66.

Hmm. I assumed Mathews was going to start, since he only pitched one inning last night. Is he now our closer?

Ow! And I was pretty sure.

For this weekend, at least. Looked pretty darn good last night.

Question for those watching the game. There seemed to be some sort of discussion with the umpires when Jensen was pulled. Sounded like they might be looking for a foreign substance. I was out of the room. Any ideas?

RE: Stanford Baseball - TonyLima - 04-03-2022

Give me a break. Mathews comes in, bases loaded, not enough time to warm up. Gets a K, then goes 3-2. Only pitch that’s working is fb. So Eager calls a changeup. Ball 4, 2-0 OSU. Next batter, 3-2, curve. Ball 4.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 04-03-2022

Not pretty. Another secondary pitch on full count walks in another run. Then a wild pitch. Ouch.

Yep. At least they got into the osu bullpen.

Clawed back to 3-5 score. It ain’t over yet! But what a long game on getaway day…

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 04-03-2022

Glad to see Mathews has settled down and we lead 6-5 after 6. Announcers say he might get us to the 8th if he’s allowed the usual 100-110 pitches (not a given since he threw 9 pitches Friday night).

Mathews at 85 pitches w 2 out in 7th.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 04-03-2022

Stanford wins 8-5! First series win in the ballpark since 2010. Mathews went the rest of the way notching 11K, so a save and a win for him in the series! #allrightnow

RE: Stanford Baseball - Madera86 - 04-03-2022

Woohoo! Stanford wins, 8-5. Mathews with three strikeouts to end the ninth. We win the series against the #3 Beavs on the ROAD.

Not sure how. LOL. That is a scary roster when you look at the Beav's batting lineup and their pitching staff.

With 1 W and a save, Mathews is likely to win Pac-12 pitcher of the week again. Threw 120 pitches. Doubt he’ll be available for St. Mary’s. ;)

IIRC Beavs had made 10 errors all season. Made 2 today. Put pressure on the defense!

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 04-03-2022

Announcers were saying Quinn would win pitcher of the week if not for Cooper Hjerpe, OSU.
8.0IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 17K.
We shall see

RE: Stanford Baseball - Sam Leopold - 04-04-2022

Our RPI rose from 58 to 28 over the weekend as a result of our excellent series in Corvallis:  NCAA Division I Baseball -- Pseudo-RPI's (boydsworld.com)
