Actually the first Stanford non-basketball one-and-done may have coincidentally been a female golfer: Mickey Wright.
No way to know who the first one-and-done was, but Wright was at Stanford for a single year before turning pro and becoming one of the greatest golfers of all time.
I met Mickey Wright in 1963 when the Women’s Western Open was played at Maple Bluff CC in Madison, WI, where my family played. She went with us out on my dad’s boat on Lake Mendoza early that week, and she was beyond cool to 15-year-old me. And she was very kind to a star-struck kid.

Potentially fabulous team in 2024-25, too. Consider:
1. Rose Zhang, Sr. (current world #1)
2. Megha Ganne, Jr. (#1 in 2022 class. world #17)
3. Anna Davis, Fr. (Ganne is a best friend)(current #2 junior, world #23 )
4. Caroline Strudza, Sr. (#103 world)
5. Kelly Xu, Jr. (#2 in 2022 class, #227 world). I suspect she will move down behind our top recruit in the 2023 class.
And yes, Zhang might go pro by then. It's clear, however, that she loves being at, and playing for, Stanford, and her new NIL deal with Adidas makes staying in school more attractive.

Here’s hoping that mens gymnastics and womens golf form dynasties that continue to provide national titles in the years to come.

I hadn't heard about Davis is she now verbal or is that just speculation?
2022-23 team looks like this:
Zhang
Heck
Seay
Ganne
Sturdza
subs - Xu, Becht, Lu
2023-24:
Zhang (maybe)
Heck
Seay (maybe)
Ganne
Sturdza
Xu/Becht/Lu/recruits
Seay may stay for a fifth year since last year didn't count against her eligibility

No, there has been no report that Davis has not committed. My informed guess is that if Davis has the grades, she will want to play with her very close friend, Ganne, who is incredibly charismatic.

Agreed if Davis has the grades.
Next school year I should have some idea if Seay is staying another year or not. I have no idea about Zhang's future. Not sure anyone other than Coach Walker does and she's tight-lipped when it comes to her and Heck especially.

The US Women's Open begins tomorrow.
Stanford golfers in the field - Andrea Lee, Lauren Kim, Rose Zhang. For the first 2 rounds, Zhang is paired with Lucy Li and Anna Davis. Zhang and Davis will have plenty of time to talk about the college golf experience and specifically the experience at Stanford.

Are we writing off Angie Ye? Two time All American, former top 10 world amateur. She was a Junior this year.
