South Carolina scored 65 points in its victory today and UConn 63. The top teams in women’s basketball are more defined by their defense.

Yes, with about the same shooting percentages as Stanford had in its win over Oregon. Boston had another double-double while Brink had a triple-double.

If boscard’s point wasn’t clear, UConn and South Carolina did not play each other. UConn beat Villanova 63-58 and South Carolina beat Alabama 65-52.

Thanks, I misunderstood that post. I remembered UConn and SoCar were supposed to play pretty soon. Checking the schedule, I see it's a week from today.

Interesting UConn didn't lead for a 13 minute stretch of the second half and only had a 2 point lead with 22 seconds left. I'll have to watch the replay.

Washington State, our next opponent, beat Arizona at Arizona quite handily today, and has won 4 road games in a row. They now have CLW back and are playing well. Going to the Palouse is looking dangerous. Playing 6 road games and having two dangerous teams--UCLA and USC--coming into Maples is a heckuva way to end the conference season.

Oregon State lost to cal. All the talk of OSU being much improved, better than their record, etc., went out the window with that loss. They had so much size that cal lacked and still lost. I'm not sure how I feel about the conference. On the one hand, I do think it is very deep and the lower tier teams are better. On the other hand, I don't think the top is as good as previous seasons. UA is not what they were touted to be at all, for instance. It can be simultaneously true that the conference is deep and pretty much every game will be a battle and that the top teams should be doing better than they are.

Chimera, could the answer have to do with all the transfers? Several other teams have put together very talented rosters using transfers. But on the transfer-centric teams, the whole seems often to be less than the sum of its parts.

Very possible. Wholesale changes like UA did and like what Oregon has done recently haven't gotten them to the next level. I absolutely hate all the transfers. Takes the fun out of it if top teams can just poach the better players off lesser teams. UConn would be much worse without their transfers. Utah added Pili, which has helped them a lot, but that was one player in, not a bunch out and a bunch more in.

LSU is really undisciplined - players jawing at each other the whole game. Jawing at their opponent. I've watched them play in two games and both games, LSU players got technicals - tonight one was for taunting. They play very cocky. It's hard to watch. Kim let's them do whatever they want!
That said, Tennessee is embarrassingly bad for all their talent. They don't have an offensive identity and turn the ball over way too much. They have under achieved big time with their roster talent.
LSU is going to get the win but neither team was overly impressive.

Kim let's them do whatever they want!I don't know how many transfers LSU has, but Tennessee has several in key positions, beginning with Rickea Jackson who was benched for a few games for disciplinary reasons last fall, as I understand it. Jordan Walker, Jasmine Franklin, Jasmine Powell, and Jillian Hollingshed are also transfers, although one transferred earlier than this year. But that is probably way more than half their minutes and talent--the only home grown star is Jordan Horsten. Trying to meld a team out of a bunch of relatively selfish players (maybe that adjective is harsh, but abandoning your team, friends, and university for personal gain seems to qualify in my book,) who don't have a years-long commitment to each other or to your program, who may be thinking from the day they join the team about whether they will return for another year or move on--that must be an impossible task.
That said, Tennessee is embarrassingly bad for all their talent. They don't have an offensive identity and turn the ball over way too much. They have under achieved big time with their roster talent.

Frankly, I am delighted when excessive transfers lead to poor results.

I was going to post the same thing about the LSU players and Mulkey; act like a bunch of spoiled brats. Really want them to lose and be able to see their reactions. Alexia Morris is good but LSU is her 4th school; she was kicked off the team at Baylor her freshman year by Mulkey. Angel Reese appeared more interested in getting her double/double then outcome of game

Agreed. For context, LSU has beaten one ranked team all season; Arkansas who is no longer ranked. The SEC is tough but they played a very weak non-conference schedule. The SC game on the road upcoming will be telling. I'm not convinced they are a serious title contender.
I wonder if they plan to announce a top16 reveal as they've done the past few years? Usually, one release would be in January but haven't seen any mention.

LSU barely gets past Georgia, despite being at home and getting 45 free throw attempts. They do not look like an especially good team to me. Both teams featuring transfer stars, of course.
