At this point, the pitching has started to come around. Over the 8 games before the rain-fest to end the UW series, the team ERA was 2.54. Even with the rain-mess game the past 9 games have seen a 3.30 ERA. Of course that only brought the season ERA down to 5.91.
Bats remain anemic except for Nati hitting .411 with OPS of 1.161. Moore has 5 homers but only hitting .200.
Some hope from Reynolds and Hott who seemed to have now made the starting lineup and both are hitting over .300.
Disappointing that UCSD transfer Larson hasn't done much yet - hear he's not fully healthy.
Perhaps it's a good thing that the Pac looks relatively weak in its final year.
OSU is very good and cal looks strong so far. Not sold on anyone else though Utah and Oregon have pretty good records against weak competition.
And not quite on point - but Stanford has the weirdest combination of a committment to bunt runners over and being absolutely terrible at bunting that I can ever remember. Even the good bunt by Cobb that TonyLima mentions above came right after just missing popping out on a first attempt.

I was at last Friday night's game, a lone fan wearing a Stanford sweatshirt sitting some distance behind the visitor dugout and toward home plate. When the team made signal, I made commensurate noise at timely moments, like "Turn two, baby! Turn two!" after Matt Scott got the hυge double play in the bottom of the seventh.
Perhaps I was imagining things, but looked like one of the Stanford players acknowledged my presence in the stands on the way back toward the dugout from the victory huddle on the mound.

Well. A pretty mediocre USC team just took two out of three from our guys. On the KZSU broadcast today, Carson Trail said it best: “to win, this team needs to play good fundamentals. They haven’t done that this weekend.“
Stanford made four errors in the late innings, basically blowing the game. Three errors were in one inning, and in that inning there were two errors on the same play. That ain’t gonna get it done.
I was at part of Sunday’s game. The homeplate umpire had an incredible floating strikes zone. I’m wondering if the impending demise of the Pac 12 has affected hiring of officials for Pac 12 games.

You'd think Stanford players would know enough to let the foul ball drop that was instead caught as the first out in the top of the 9th. While getting an out is good, letting the other team get the go-ahead run was the problem. I'd also think the announcers would have noted it was an unwise out.
And then the bottom fell out....

Was not there. Too cold, windy, wet. And, frankly, I'm glad I didn't go. Literally a fair weather fan.

Wasn't just the bottom. The whole structure collapsed.

With the way the closer came in and his progress at that point. They needed the out. The collision is what sent the runner home. These hitters need to change their approach. Haskins, needs to do a better job with runners in scoring position. He is still looking to relive the Texas State AB. Drive the ball back up the middle, everything else will fall into place. This team does not have power, and I am sure Esquer knows that. These hitters need to know that as well. Swinging out of your shoes is not going to cut it. Moore is not going to see anything good to hit. Even more now since he does not have anyone behind him. I get really tired of Eager coming out every other inning. You see this staff always looking in the dugout when on the mound. I wonder if they are looking over to see if he is coming to take them out. I usually try to sit lower level behind home plate, or towards the Stanford dugout. Eager does a great job of talking to his kids during the game.

FYI, by Monday morning the 6-3 win over Creighton and the 11 inning 13-6 win over Utah will be posted on my Youtube channel. I'll make it a point to let you know where the top of the 11th begins.
