I had the game on in the background (no sound because of holiday weekend plans), but I am now watching back the highlights, and one thing I am struck by is how much success NiJaree and Coach Nyberg had jamming the hitters inside. Normally, that can be a risky strategy to go in, particularly if the pitch is left up (because many hitters can take that pitch for extra bases/home run). But I have counted at least three times where jamming the LSU hitter in induced an out.
Excellent game plan from Coach Nyberg, and just really well executed by NiJaree. So proud of the fight this team showed today.

Canady looks good so far. They said thata this is the first time she has pitched in 3 consecutive games.
That LSU pitcher is tough too.

Stanford and LSU scoreless through 3 1/2. Caelan has had some good at-bats,
even when she has recorded outs. Had a lineout yesterday that just fairly close to the CF.

Koch should not have tried to score on that play. She wasn't even close. Bummer. That play could lead to the end of our season. Hope not, but . . .

I think more just pumping up LSU. He is an LSU super fan known for carrying a championship belt. A bit controversial in softball circles.

I've never seen such aggressive (and questionable) base running in one game. Is this common for softball?

LSU is a really good defensive team; against many/most teams, the throw is slightly off, or the tag is slightly late, and those runs scored. I understand the sentiment, particularly since Stanford may have been the beneficiary of a questionable call on that ball not hitting Chan. I also think knowing NiJaree is in the circle, the sentiment is just get her something (in terms of run support).

And on the first pitch with the LSU relief pitcher . . . Berry hits a 3 run homer!!! 7-0 Stanford.
Mahler with a base hit.
"An atomic explosion at the plate for Stanford" says the announcer. I think 6 of the 7 runs came with 2 outs. Amazing.
