I am surprised about Stewart! Pleasantly so, of course. Just about all tea leaves pointed to Ann Arbor. Good reminder that interviews and tweets can be misleading, misread, even misinformation, and certainly not the whole story.
Even with these surprising commitments, the (for Stanford) large number of highly-ranked de-commits is still one of the stories of this class.

I am really happy about Stewart's commitment! To me, that's equivalent to Robertson. Before McCaffrey, Cardinal has been lack of reliable weapon in offense, which always made me extremely nervous watching the game. Hopefully we could land Robertson as well (I know it's an extremely long long shot... )

Welcome to the board, Bosco. Are you affiliated with St John Bosco? I understand that is a sister school of Paramus, where Stewart attended. Do you happen to know Stewart?
Lots of Stanford fans are excited about Stewart's commitment. He fits the Stanford WR mold well since he's so tall and has such a great catch radius. Robertson is a bit of a different animal. He's a speed demon and much more. He would be the top rated WR or ATH to attend Stanford in a generation or more. But Stewart is a very welcome addition and seems like a great kid.

Thanks for the welcome TrumpCard :) I am not affiliated with St John Bosco nor did I know Stewart. I am just a happy Stanford fan for the past 10 years or so :p
Yes I understand Steward and Robertson are totally different types of weapon in offense. For me, their threats to the opponent team are equivalent. One can use his own speed to create wide open
scenario down the field and the other one can use his hand to land very difficult catch even heavily guarded by the opponent team.
This year's recruiting process has been ups and downs that at some point I could not even look at the status of our commitment list. Hopefully coming to the end we could have a wonderful
ending (and yes, even the chance of landing Robertson is extremely slim, I am still hopping that there would be some miracle...)

Numbers recap.
As of right now we have 24 commits listed on Rivals.
Bobk considers Fox a commit, so 25.
Two are going on a mission (Fehoko and Kaufusi).
That would put us at 23 new starters this fall.
The NCAA limit is 25 new starters in a given year.*
That would seem to imply two spots for Powell, McCullough, Pryts, Bobbk's mystery longshot, and any other longshots folks might be fantisizing about.
*The loop hole in the 25 new starters limit is that IF a student starts in the winter/spring, they can cound against either the previous year's limit (the school year they actually start) or the next year's limit (the first football season on campus), if there is space available. For example, Michigan had 6 or 7 early enrollees that could count against last year's very small class totals - so Harbs could come in with 30+.
Of course Stanford doesn't do the early enrollee thing.

Has Stanford ever had a class of 25 or more (if you count the LDS mission guys)?
I think it's nuts that they offered a scholarship to a kicker, and to a degree, a long snapper. Unless those guys are elite players they should be walk-ons who earn their scholarships. That's how it's usually done.

Is it as simple as accepting only the next two offerees to commit? Or maybe that's it, that offers haven't been extended yet to the above mentioned.

It's a little tricky to track years when mission guys came back, so a few of the classes below might have been near the limit with one or two of those.
Our largest classes in the web-data base era were (going off of Scout):
2003 - 25Â at least one of those (Jai Miller) never got on campus.
2009 - 22Â Taysom Hill went on mission and never returned (to us)
2010 - 22
2012 - 22Â Fanaika went on mission
2015 - 22Â G. Reid misison, Fox delayed, Barton returned from mision
Most others were <20.
Not only is Stanford rarely close to the 25 man yearly limit, we also typically are several spots clear from the overall 85 scholarship limit - even after some walk-ons are awarded a scholarship.

So the question then becomes, did Fox enroll in Summer school or not?

Rivals story said Stanford wanted two RBs this class. So after Stephens went elsewhere they went to Plan B Maddox.
Looking for some Maddox highlights, I found this, Gilman vs. Paramus Catholic from this past year. Donald Stewart and Rashan Gary vs. Devery Hamilton and Dorian Maddox. I hope you like Jersey accents!

To be technical, the question isn't whether Fox enrolled, but rather whether Fox received countable financial aid. Those typically go hand in hand, but this situation is unique, so there might be an odd twist.
Question - TreesAndBirds - 01-31-2016
Help me understand.......since Stanford provides free tuition, room and board to students whose parents make less than a certain amount ($75K?), could we save on athletic scholarships by not providing them to students whose parents make less than $75K? The athletic scholarship probably has some additional perks, but if we got in a one year squeeze, is this a way to help address it?

I know of at least one former player who fell into that category.
