Fyi, the reason I felt okay making a couple of vague posts here about Hamilton is that I put together from Twitter that he was a stealth and I was the one who put Andy in the awkward position of responding to the question when he didn't really set out to discuss it. Plus I posted only info that was available on Twitter, witthout mentioning andy's corroboration.

I agree completely. I'm rooting for the kid. (Unless he goes to ND, in which case I won't be able to root for him until he plays on Sundays.) If not us, though, then hopefully Georgia, at least. Bama doesn't need the help, and I don't want to have to play this kid the next few years!
Even if he doesn't make it into Stanford, this kind of goal-setting, determination, and drive would seem to indicate that he'll do well in life, no matter where he ends up. Â

If not Stanford, I hope Robertson ends up at Georgia Tech. I'd say Ca.l, but that isn't happening. Alabama doesn't need him. UGA is loaded at the skill positions. No way do I want to see him wearing a gold dome.

At this point, it is pretty much an open secret that those "vague allusions to certain information" almost always originate with Andy at Rivals, especially when people like Bobbk and Trumpcard, who have disclosed their memberships, post. The choices are for them to sit on their hands while other people post uninformed speculation, to violate the explicit request of Andy at Rivals and potentially violate the terms of service (and also potentially cost Andy some subscribers), or to try and negotiate a middle ground that alludes to the certain details without giving the whole story. Personally, I think they've done a good job at finding a middle ground, correcting misinformation but otherwise staying relatively quiet and being scant on details. People who are annoyed at the lack of details can chose to subscribe if they want the whole scoop, or if they are bothered by the whole enterprise, avoid reading the recruiting threads until NSD, when all is revealed.

OF, you would know more than most of us re UCB. Why wouldn't he go to that program?  Great school, great location, California dreamin... I would clearly put UCB as the next best choice from an academics standpoint. Is Dykes the challenge?

When asked about ND, Robertson called it the 40 year decision. That's our song, not ND. The interviewer asked him about every school except Stanford, even though he listed us first.
My speculation on his preferences:
1/ Stanford
2/ ND
3/ Alabama
4/ Georgia Tech
5/ Georgia
So if he gets in, he comes here; if not he goes to (gulp) ND. I'm also guessing he got about 80 of the 100 point improvement guidance on the test score.
This will an interesting admissions case. If your extracurriculars are off the charts, instead of just very good, how much extra consideration do you get? Same thing applies to music, art, and other special skills.

Of for Godsake, a 5 Star has to equate to an Olympic gold medal, world-record, Poet Laureate, Pulitzer Prize winner, discoverer of the cure for all cancers, inventor of Viagra. Come on!

No Watkins Award finalists this year. Too bad Stanford missed on Burton. A kid from South LA with a 3.7.

Andy has a nice (free) interview with Dylan Powell.
https://stanford.n.rivals.com/news/powell-talks-stanford-commitment
I found this quote fascinating:
Quote:The opportunity after graduation is going to be tremendous. Obviously that's been proven by some of the guys that have left this year there that are obviously great players and can play, but they have such good opportunities that they want to start right away. Just the ability to get a quality education like that, I'll have that to my advantage.
I am impressed that Graham Shuler's story (I assume that is the reference there) and decision to pass up his fifth year resonated with a recruit. At first blush you might see it as a negative that a potential returning starter would leave the program and retire from football for non-medical reasons, but I am guessing that the good bye letter and whatever Shuler is doing post-graduation has impressed Powell.

So does anyone know what Mr Shuler will be pursuing next year? I don't recall seeing it in his letter to the Stanford community. I'm very curious as to what the next chapter holds for him and wish him the best of luck with his endeavors!
