Excited to see the commitment of Ijiwoye. I could see her and Swain playing together as PG/SG both with ball handling duties. But one of them would need a reliable 3-pt shot for floor spacing.

Harper Peterson down to her final 3. Stanford, Washington, and Florida State
How do others feel joining the ACC will affect our WBB recruiting?

Recruiting has been Outstanding for 35 years with only a couple of not the norm of outstanding years. So my thinking it will be the same. If not ACC like west coast league that recruiting would have gone down hill. As the athlete survey pointed out Stanford athletes want to play against the top competition
Interesting about Peterson I missed that especially if we are only taking three this class

Tara's response to joining the ACC.
Stanford's Tara VanDerveer 'thrilled' to join ACC - ESPN
"I think it's going to a fabulous conference for women's basketball. We're really thankful the ACC wanted Stanford. And the biggest thing for us is to continue to be able to compete on the highest level, and I want to keep coaching players who want that combination of great academics and great basketball.
We've recruited a lot of kids from the East Coast, so our recruiting is going to be fine."

I’m hoping for even better recruiting opportunities. I feel we’ve lost a few east coast kids in the past who wanted more opportunities to play close to home. Now, we have regular trips all along the east coast build in yearly. Plus regular matchups with Duke and Notre Dame.
Will see what happens.

Why do you think 3? I’m guessing we get 5 maybe even 6. We need another big and Edwards, Koval or both would be brobdingnagian. And 2 or 3 of Lee, Blakes, Heckel and Peterson would be great. I know Tara likes more balanced class numbers historically but maybe the transfer portal changes that calculus. You can’t count on a player staying 4 years so having other players on the roster who know the system and can be big contributors say in their jr/sr year is important (I’m hoping that is the case for Bosgana and Demetre this year and next)

Three because back when the transfers out occurred Tara stated that she would keep the roster at 13. Thus only one to go.
Yes hope she changed her mind We really need Koval given we at present will have only one post in 24-25

I googled for an announcement to confirm that, but couldn't find one. WBB Blog has the info on its page for her (
https://wbbblog.com/harper-peterson/) but doesn't give the source or date. (The blog generally doesn't give the source but does normally give the date.) Puzzling.

I thought she only meant for the 2023-24 season. Aren't all 15 scholarships endowed? I wouldn't think she'd let 2 go to waste for the long term. But it's tough to keep 15 happy these days.

Thanks for the updates on our Board Com Sci.

Definitely! Congratulations to both Stanford and 2024 PG recruit Wrenwick IJIWOYE!
She's 4-star #40 Prospect Nation and 4-star #44 ESPN.
However, I just noticed that 2024 6'3 PF recruit Kennedy UME was downgraded
by ESPN from 5-star #28 to 4-star #40. That's a relatively big drop, I wonder why.
On the other hand, she remains as 4.5-star and #20 per Prospect Nation.
As of Sept 2, 2023, the following is my Class of 2024 class ranking based on ESPN:
(1) UConn:
#4 - Allie ZIEBEL 5'10 SG
#18 - Morgan CHELI 6'2 SG
(2) Michigan:
#11 - Syla SWORDS 6'0 SF
#15 - Olivia OLSON 6'0 PG
(3) UCLA:
#14 - Kendall DUDLEY 6'2 SG
#24 - Avary CAIN 6'1 SG
(4) Duke:
#9 - Toby FOURNIER 6'2 PF
(5) South Carolina:
#12 - Madisen McDANIEL 5'9 PG
(6) Clemson:
#13 - Imari BERRY 5'10 SG
(7) Florida:
#16 - Alivia McGILL 5'9 PG
(8) Illinois:
#20 - Berry WALLACE 6'1 SF
(9) Miami:
#30 - Leah HARMON 5'6 PG
#37 - Ahnay ADAMS 5'6 PG
(10) Stanford:
#40 - Kennedy UME 6'3 PF
#44 - Wrenwyck IJIWOYE 5'6 PG

I think 6'2 AGARA should now be designated as F.
Yes, she was formerly a SG up until her sophomore year
in HS, but growth spurt from 5'11 to 6'2 transformed her
into PF role. In fact, she was used as a PF when she played
for the USA in the 2022 U17 World Championships.
And that's how she is going to be used by Tara,
at Stanford, as a backup at PF for both BRINK and IRIAFEN.

not exactly a post on recruiting, but does anyone know how the women's basketball conference tournament will work for an 18-team acc? on first glance, it would seem to be 4 or 5 games, which is a lot to fit in one weekend.
last year's 5 day schedule

No, we're still a finalist. She's also taking visits to Miami and Notre Dame this fall.
