Probably an original National League MLB team, as I think that's the oldest league in the major sports.
I know that some original NL teams have changed nicknames -- Dodgers, Cubs, Braves, Cardinals, Reds.
If you're talking only about the nickname, then I'll guess it's the Giants. If you're talking about the full name (including the city), then I'll guess it's the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Nickname only. You are correct. Since 1885, the franchise has only been known as the Giants.

Unclear. The original article didn't list Tigers players as being so honored, while they listed other MLB teams (e.g., Giants) as being so honored:

However, this article, linked from the above article, claims that the Tigers honor pre-jersey number players like Cobb, Harry Heilmann, Sam Crawford, Mickey Cochrane, Hughie Jennings and Heinie Manush. I've been to Comerica ballpark and I've seen various exhibits listing their exploits, but I don't recall seeing it on the wall like the other players...but I didn't pay attention, tbh.
I found a photo. Cobb’s name is on the CF wall among all of the numbered retired Tiger greats between Horton (23) and Greenberg (5).

The Reds nickname goes back to the 19th C. However, they formally changed their nickname to the Redlegs in 1953 to avoid any association with communism. They changed their name back to the Reds in 1959.
Note: Teams did not have official nicknames in the early days of baseball. It was generally sportswriters who tagged the clubs with nicknames. Some stuck, some didn’t. The entire history is an interesting read for those who like to read about the beginning of professional baseball.

Giants beat the Rockies at Coors Field tonight, 5-0. Doval got the save, Kyle Harrison got the win, pitching seven shutout innings, in a field that is notoriously hard on pitchers, thanks to the altitude. Jung Hoo Lee had his first three-hit night (now hitting .261). #9 hitter Nick Ahmed had two hits, he's now hitting .245.
Only six Giants pitchers have been able to pitch at least seven shutout innings in the 29 year history of Coors Field (yes, it's older than Oracle), Harrison's effort was the most recent.
Who were the other five?

I think Dallas and Miami did in the early days of the game. Since then? I’m not sure if anyone else has accomplished that feat.

Right...the Cowboys lost SB V, then beat the Miami Dolphins in SB VI...then Miami won the next two. Last was the 2017 Patriots lost SB LII and won SB LIII the next year.
Of interest...17 of the first 56 SB losers didn't make the playoffs the following season, and 11 of them (including the 2019 Niners) didn't reach a .500 record. All 11 have come since 1989 (Broncos).
