After starting 16-0 at home, Stanford dropped a home game on Friday to Clemson 5-7. Clemson got two runs before the third batter came to the plate. Stanford could never quite catch up even though they outhit Clemson 8 to 5.
Stanford evened the series on Saturday with a run-rule, 5-inning game, 11-1. Houston started off weakly, giving up 3 walks and a hit to the first 6 batters, but all 3 outs in that inning were swinging strike outs. She wound up giving up just the 1 hit (HR), 9 strike outs, 5 walks in 5 innings in a complete game.
Stanford is now 26-7, 8--5 conference (17-1 at home).
Sunday's game is at noon.

Stanford scores 18 runs today in the third game to sweep Boise State. Stanford has the hitters to play at world series level.
Here's the problem. In the last two games unrated Boise State had 20 hits against Stanford. The Cardinal doesn't have the pitching staff to be competitive on a consistent basis against top teams (Yes, they did beat Texas early in the season).
The wins against Boise State are enjoyable. It tends to obscure the fact Stanford has lost the last five of six conference games.

It’s been about what we expected preseason. Hitting has been I think even better than we hoped. Pitching has been a struggle much of the time as expected. The Texas game was great, but some combination of an on day pitching and an off day hitting - well anything can happen in a single game, hence your consistently comment is dead on. I don’t think the fans over-read that one game too much, and that we are very surprised now. That said giving up 13 runs to Boise at isn’t great even by those standards.

The pitching staff's allowed batting average is quite good at .197. However, the problem has been 191 combined walks and hit by pitches. At 231.1 innings, that is nearly a walk or HBP per inning. Solve that problem, and I think the pitching numbers will improve quickly.

#22 Alabama beats #2 Oklahoma today 2-1 to take the series. In the two games Alabama won they held Oklahoma to one run. Alabama has good pitching.

Speaking of pitching, I recently saw a few pictures of various softball pitchers and their windup and motion toward the plate and wondered how much that might add to their pitching speed. According to one long article on the subject, it can add 20 percent to a pitchers speed. Secondly, it seems top softball pitching coaches want first a pitcher who has good motion on the pitch and consistently hit the desired spots with the pitch. Speed was secondary to ball movement and control. I just wondered how much advantage a pitcher accrues from that motion that must put them several feet closer to the plate when they release it.

They should call up local youth softball clubs and organizations. Offer free admission to anyone under the age of 18 to jack up attendance. It might also add some more screaming kids to the environment.

It would be nice to surpass the 12,566, but that figure is total attendance at multiple games. Whether we surpass that or not I suspect Stanford will hold the record for largest crowd present for any single NCAA softball game.
In any event, there are at least 9,385 now as my family just got our tix. Coming up from So Cal for this!

Great idea, which takes me back to the beginning of time 1963 when the athletic department had a 'Junior Rooters' program where kids under a certain age got in free and the 'Family Package' which allowed two adults and three kids in for free.

There will be many youth players at the game. However HS age can’t get in free.

I live on the peninsula and our local softball league has reached out to their teams and email lists with information on the game. I’m expecting a great day.
Hopefully, there’s more than 1 concession stand open.
