That's an interesting premise.
Presumably not using standardized testing for admissions does not mean not using standards for admission.
For athletic admissions, whether athletic talent simply plays a larger role will be hard to determine from the outside. It could be we simply gain a few admits (who would have relatively struggled with tests) and lose a few others (who relatively struggle with grades, other).

3* WR J. Michael Sturdivant from Marcus HS in TX, Kaden Smith's HS. He has visited us before and coach Kennedy has been to his school. Reports a 3.5 GPA. This is his 17th P5 offer - Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Wisconsin have also offered just this week alone.
Sturdivant committed to Cal.

He will play immediately there. We have a massive logjam at WR for the next couple years. We are the favorite for Makai Cope from SoCal and are only taking one.
Other offers off the board who committed elsewhere recently:
TE Erik Olsen (Colorado)
OLB Quintin Somerville (Michigan) and Dallas Turner (Alabama)
DL Keanu Williams (announcing in a few days and unless something insane happens it's Oregon) and Colin Mobley (USC)
S Kaleb Edwards (GT)

Shaw et al need to extend additional '21 offers. board is pretty short with only 4 verbals to date.

My biggest--but not only--concern is always recruiting, but maybe the football staff can be granted a mulligan for this year? There are many on this board who know better than I the details of Stanford's unique approach to signing smart, talented football players. But what little I know tells me that, thanks to Covid-19, we are at a bigger disadvantage than many of our competitors this year.

Tough to say how much of it is that, and how much of it is going 4-8 last season with a million injuries and only 2 players drafted. A lot of kids are susceptible to positive momentum. You're seeing that with our MBB recruiting of late.

This site looks fairly new. They did a scouting report on Ari Patu. It's not too long but is to the point.

Another offer to a player committed elsewhere:
