But despite the antics 10 seconds left and it’s a three point game
I think we can beat both teams.
Yes. Let's hope we get a chance to beat both teams. And if we do, I think we know what that means....

Without Bueckers or Fudd, UConn has no true perimeter threat...only 2/6 from beyond the arc. Neither team hit their outside shots though. Staley's team started 0/11 from downtown before hitting 3 of their last 4 down the stretch during critical moments to finish 3/15 (20%).
The Huskies had a +13% in overall shooting percentage, but South Carolina had 25(!) offensive boards including 6 by Boston and 9(!) by Cardoso.

I think we'd have a puncher's chance against either of these teams. We'd have to play our A game though. They are loaded with talent. That SENECHAL on UCONN is amazing. Edwards is also elite.

Final score:
South Carolina = 77
Geno = -4
UCON = 77
Not since Scott Rueck lost a game last year by receiving a Tech have I seen a coach lose a game for his team! That’s got to be the worst way to lose — to have your leader lead you to ruin! Ouch!

Edwards is actually underrated, I think, with all the attention on the larger Boston. I've thought she is the better offensive player all year.
Cardosa proved her worth, too. And amazing to see a team in which a player like Amihere doesn't start.

...and not putting in some of the bench to get some of those fouls when your stars are in foul trouble?
This game looked like SC should have won by at least 25, had SC not had some invisible hands that fouled the Huskies.
Can anyone explain that technical on Cardoso? I listened to the announcers, watched the replay, and I still don't understand exactly what she was called for.

I agree. We've already shown that we can go toe-to-toe with South Carolina. For some reason, UConn in the tourney has been our Achilles' heel though. We've gotten big wins over them in the regular season but we haven't beaten them in the NCAA Tournament since Candice Wiggins and co. did it in 2008.

She slammed the ball on the floor after the foul call.

That wasn't much of a "slam." If they are calling that a T, Cam better be careful. She has a tendency to do that too.

I'm sure the feeling is mutual...
I only saw the game from after the technical.
If it wasn't clear from the announcers, it is illegal to hand off the ball on an throw-in. How did the refs not know that?
Also, Amihere at 34.7 clearly traveled before starting her dribble, and then twice obviously carried the ball on her way down the court. I hope the Stanford coaches bring up her dribbling technique to the refs if Stanford plays UConn.
I couldn't see the South Carolina touch on the possession overrule at 1:38 from the TV replays, but maybe the refs had other views. Some of those fouls against South Carolina in the last minute or so were quite iffy.

You meant if we play South Carolina again? Amihere is a Gamecock. We were recruiting her.

Utah overwhelms Oregon 100-92. Don't look now but our game @ Utah could be decisive. Let's hope we don't lose another before then, anyway.

Maybe Tara just wants to prove that her pick to win the conference was right, darnit!

Marquette stings UConn on their home court and hands the Huskies their first consecutive losses since 1993-1994. Impressive stuff.
