Thanks for the update.  I'll be watching.  Yes, I expect Heck will be a feature of the Golf Channel broadcast if it's a close match.  Hope Xu can get the comeback win.  Her opponent has been playing lights out golf.

Xu struggled at the end (bogeyed 3 of her final 6 holes) and lost 3 and 2.

Heck showed her teenage opponent she still has it.  Won convincingly.  Played two matches today and her body seemed to hold up.  Good news for Stanford.  Heck plays in the quarterfinals tomorrow.  Coverage on Golf Channel starts at 3:00 pm PT.  Spiny, are you walking from your Bel Air mansion down to the golf course tomorrow?

Heck's play has been very encouraging for fans of Rachel Heck as well as fans of Stanford golf. Only a few months ago, she could barely swing a club after major surgery. This is her first tournament since October! Now she is in the quarterfinals of the national amateur and playing as well as anyone in the field.

I *should* be at the course today to root her on. But the timing is bad. I guess the tee times are late so that Golf Channel can fit in the tournament after airing the Friday round of the PGA tournament.

Minor point of clarification, she did play one round at NCAAs in May but did not do well and was removed from the lineup. It is great to see rounding back into form!

Heck on a rampage today in the quarter-finals.  Got so bad her opponent broke down in tears a couple times.  Match over after 12 holes.

Heck got rolled today by Curtis Cup teammate Latanna Stone from LSU 3 and 2. Stone put up 6 birdies in the first 11 holes and coasted from there.

Heck did not play bad at all. She only made 1 bogey. But she ran into a hotter player.

2024 recruit Meja Örtengren just signed today. She is the 10th-ranked amateur in the world. The highest-ranked current Stanford golfer is freshman Paula Martín Sampedro, who is ranked #28.

This continues Anne Walker's successful recruiting of top European players over the years - Martin Sampedro (Spain), Albane Valenzuela (Switzerland), Caroline Sturdza (Switzerland), Aline Krauter (Germany), Shannon Aubert (France).

Örtengren has already played in the Augusta National Women's Amateur twice. She should be a welcome addition to a team that could lose 3 of its top 6 next season (Heck, Englemann, Seay).

Also signing with Stanford today is Leigh Chien, ranked 97th in WAGR.

It probably helps that she's lived it herself: coming over from Europe for college and golf in the Bay Area.

Add one more to next year's class - Andrea Revuelta from Spain has signed. She is ranked 31st in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). By the numbers, this is a strong class.

Next year's class is even stronger than we thought. Stanford also signed Nora Sundberg from Sweden, 38th in WAGR.
