I disagree. They are at Stanford for multiple reasons, only one of which is to get paid. And if getting paid was the primary reason (or even just the tipping point for their choice of college) they would surely be somewhere else.
Fair enough.  I made an extreme statement, and it was unjust.  On the other hand, I was a work-study student at Stanford earning minimum wage, and when I put myself back in my Stanford undergraduate shoes, something about the NIL payments is alien to me.

Money is as good of an incentive as any in a capitalist society. I am 100% in favor of Nil and the transfer portal. Evolve or get out of the way.
Your motivation for going to Stanford (and better) was entirely different from my own (and better), and I choose not to take your advice regarding evolution.  But hopefully we can find a meeting ground where we both can appreciate our student athletes.

I find I must ask, why do you find it necessary to use so much invective in your posts?  Can't we just chose to disagree in an amicable manner?  Although I often disagree with your posts, I admit I sometimes learn from them.  So why the phrases like "get out of the way?"

It wouldn’t be “you” getting out of the way because like me, you are responding to something that has already happened and is out of your control. The “you” here is the Stanford Admins, Muir, Board and coaches who can’t adjust to the times or are painfully slow to adjust because they are unable to continue to perpetuate the inequity that exists between schools and their athletes.

You are not in the way to get out of the way. Those individuals above are in the way and need to get out of the way.

If Cori only manages to piss off Christeen and Ansty, I’d give her a ton of credit. That is a worst logjam than we had this year.

Re: UCLA starters - if you were part of the starting 5 that made it to the PAC-12 tourney final game and the Sweet 16, you would give up your starting spot (Brown/Sontag), why?

We know Betts was looking for more of a guarantee of playing time which she presumably got from Close.  Some or all of Dugalic, Iwuala, Sontag, Antsley and Muse should transfer or decommit because that’s basically a guarantee that they won’t be playing.

And what happens if Betts finds herself down on the depth chart based upon performance and/or change in the offense that favors have two PF/#4s on the floor?

Now if your a coach loading up with multiple highly ranked kids in the same or adjacent classes may not be smart. More reasons than ever for kids to hit the portal and move on if they don't get playing time.  Seems like that kids have to start early if they want to develop a following and really cash in with the NIL

Daydreaming... What if Brink told Betts she plans to use her COVID year at Stanford? Lauren realizes that she may be on the bench 2 more years and decided to go where the national defensive player of the year won't be in the way to the starting lineup.

I know it's 420 and everything, but, I'll have some of what PVT is having.
Cheers,

Wonder if Agnes ends up choosing TCU. She’s visiting somewhere in Texas today and that’s my guess. I honestly don’t even know that many programs would be after her. Indya I think ends up at Duke, UNC, or maybe like a Notre Dame. Granted they have a ton of guards ahead of her. Somewhere in the ACC.

Rumor is she’s in Austin, so possibly Texas.

And UNC is pretty stacked at guard too which seems to suggest neither Betts nor Indy’s situation was just about playing time because both players likely would have gotten more playing time at Stanford than their current landing spots (and Indy probably could have started for Stanford).

RE: WBB: Lauren Betts and Agnes Emma-Nnopu in Transfer Portal - petersalas - 04-30-2023

A previous article indicated that Indya wanted to be closer to home. Makes sense, here. She’s gone and so is Lauren. As of I’ve said, I’m a Stanford fan and these are not Stanford players so it doesn’t matter to me where they’ve gone, why they’ve gone or how their careers unfold.

This foresight was correct. Agnes to TCU. They were a  bad team last year so maybe ample opportunity to get significant minutes.

That's fine, but I hope Tara and her staff have some idea why it happened. Presumably they didn't want it to and would like to prevent similar events happening in the future.
I wish the departed players the best. Except when they play us, of course.
