RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - CTcard - 04-13-2024

Oregon State announcer (Parker) just now:
"Nine high school players expected to come to Stanford this year ended up signing professional contracts instead."
[or words to that effect]

????????

I had thought the number was 0.
Anyone know what he was talking about?

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - BobK - 04-13-2024

Maybe he meant could still be at Stanford but signed pro contracts

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - TonyLima - 04-14-2024

Tip for Stanford coaches: with a runner at 3rd the “go on contact” play may not be such a good idea.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - JJJ - 04-14-2024

Not good for the heart. We need 4 outs without giving up 2 runs.

Nope. 10-10 heading into T9.

Saum (0-4, 4K to this point) leads off T9 with a homer! 11-10…

And all of Saum's extra base hits are home runs.

Troy Clardy introducing the game vs Sac State: "Michael Moore is not available tonight as he serves out his one game suspension. Same situation for Cort MacDonald as well."

Apparently both were ejected from the OSU game.
What happened?

Beat me to it.  Ejected after the game was over?

Well, it appears from the box score that both Moore and MacDonald were subbed for in the ninth at OSU. So, it would seem that the ejection happened before or after Stanford batted in the ninth.
Too much celebration on Saum's HR?

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - TonyLima - 04-19-2024

OMG. Saum just hit a double.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - Madera86 - 04-19-2024

Wow! That was fun. Roast duck for everyone! Quite the offensive outburst the last two games. Maybe Moore should sit the midweek game every week? So he can hit 3 homers in a game on the weekend? Not to mention the production from the rest of the lineup. Also, a tip of the hat to O'Harran against the potent Oregon bats.

Just read on ESPiN that David McCarty, Former Stanford Star, passed away.

1991 national player of the year, with a .429 average and 24 home runs (some of the tape measure variety). Career average of .359 is 3rd in Stanford history.  Highest ever draft pick from Stanford - 3rd overall by the Twins in '91.

RIP
B

RIP. Small correction: Mark Appel was a former #1 pick

There was a moment of silence for him before today’s game.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - TonyLima - 04-21-2024

Bottom of first. Umpires have been reviewing a play for 10 full minutes. Disgraceful.

Meanwhile, Stanford finds yet another innovative way to leave the bases loaded.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - TonyLima - 04-21-2024

MOORE! (Malcolm, that is.)

Heading into the eighth inning, Stanford and Oregon have combined for 20 home runs this weekend. Deeefense.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - JJJ - 04-22-2024

That was a fun game to be at!

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - BobK - 04-22-2024

In today’s Baseball America mock draft Moore is picked as going 21. This was written before he hit 4 HRs last 2 games

For those who want to know Montgomery # 5 overall. He has 22 HRs

Moore should be higher.  But Montgomery has more raw talent.
