JFK briefly attended Stanford in 1940, post Harvard and pre-WWII. Kennedy audited a few classes, “socialized”, recovered from a back injury, and anguished over what to do next as the US entry into WWII loomed large.  I’ve heard different stories about whether he ever enrolled in business school but he seems to have not been a serious student there in any case.

I'm sorry that I cannot give you a first hand report. I was not able to get up to Pepperdine yesterday in time for the match. But Stanford's victory was so monumental that Malibu recorded a 4.8 earthquake this morning (which I definitely heard and felt).

I would like to point out that Stanford has just finished a stretch of 6 wins in 13 days, all of which were on the road. The match vs. Texas on Sunday will be Stanford's first time playing at home this season.

Against Pepperdine Kurt had 18 kills hitting .536% according to the box score.  If accurate those are gaudy numbers.  My guess is Kurt starts against Texas.  If she struggles Blyashov comes in.

Great sweep by Stanford (25-16, 25-21, 25-22).  Some astounding runs.

Texas's Skinner got a lot of air time but hit 0.00 with 13 kills but 13 errors 0.129 with 12 kills and 8 errors. (Oops... I was looking at live stats, but didn't realize on the leaderboard they listed total errors, not attack errors;  they also apparently removed a kill.)

Even a non-expert like me could see that Miner was hurting Texas by moving the ball around.

I recall the hand-wringing here about how Stanford didn't have what it takes to be the best.
And then, like last year, the complaints about the service errors. (It looks like Stanford was 70% vs Texas 55% on side-out,  despite Stanford having 13 service errors to Texas's 8)

What the setting is doing so well this year, better than last year, is mixing up and setting the unexpected hitter. So the blockers not able to set up as well and we getting kills from lots different players.

It surprised me that the announcer admitted she hadn't studied Stanford enough before last night and didn't know Tim Duncan was the father of a Stanford player (F Sidney Duncan), even when she saw him at the hotel.  That is on Sidney Duncan's bio on the roster.

Last week's AVCA poll.   Who will be #1 tomorrow?  It will be close between Pitt, Stanford, and Penn State.

I believe Oglivie's slow speed serve was the most productive Stanford serve in terms of points scored.

It could be my imagination, but it seems to me that some other teams are moving in Hambly’s direction. I’ve been noticing a lot more aggressive serving, including Texas today.

Similar to this week's AVCA polls, it will be very close between Pitt and Stanford for tomorrow's AVCA polls top position.
Stanford may have wins versus higher ranked teams (Stanford beat #6 Texas, #8 Wisconsin and #19 Minnesota,
while Pitt upended #12 Oregon and #23 USC) but Pitt's has the more dominant victories over similar opponents
Pepperdine and UCSB.
