BosCard - 07-01-2019
The Stanford Women's Basketball twitter account just started following a whole bunch of potential recruits. Likely not all of these players have offers nor are they going to commit in the near-term. Seems like the SWBB twitter account is changing its pattern so as not to steal the thunder of commitment announcements (makes sense). I still think Citron ends up committing soon. The new names they added are 3 that are on our list already Rice, Gardiner and Velhurst. And there are 3 new names that I think should make it on our list:
2021 Olivia Miles (HoopGurlz #2)
2021 Great Kampschroeder (HoopGurlz #14)
2022 Caroline Lau (NR)
Lau and Kampschroeder have been mentioned before so they are not a surprise. I really haven't seen a link to Miles before so that is a welcome addition.

My initial thought was that the staff had better make sure that Kampschroeder signs for the years of great wordplay we could have over her name. Then I looked her up and found the misspelling. I liked BosCard's version better.

Freudian slip, hopefully she is great.

Any chance that we’d take only 3 in 2020 and pocket one for 2021 (or hope for the Wilson redshirt)?

Didn’t I post here that Kay Tudor is applying for a redshirt year at Oregon State. Anything is possible
Plus here we are in July with two openings and as far as I can figure out 3 possibles.
Add to that so many 2021 possibles

Just crazy the recruiting Oregon is doing. I’d like to understand their pitch and appeal.

Bob, my parents lived in Eugene, and I know it has a few good things going for it. But just in case any recruits read the Cardboard, I think it fair to point out these facts about Oregon and Eugene:
1. Phil Knight thinks he owns the university and corrupts the entire athletic program with his influence. (
https://nypost.com/2018/10/20/how-nike-screwed-students-with-its-generous-college-donations/)
2. It rains 144 days a year in Eugene and is overcast for many of the rest. (
https://www.currentresults.com/Weather/Oregon/average-yearly-precipitation.php) Students from California going to Eugene seem to suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) at a higher than average rate.
3. It is 104 miles to the nearest major airport--the Eugene airport having sharply limited service.
4. The population of Eugene is equal to Sunnyvale, CA and except for the University has less to offer. The town is more fun than Pullman, though.
5. The WBB team lost 4 players to transfer in one year (Campisano, McGwire, Ayuso, Maley). Their recent amazing recruiting is only possible because they opened up 4 extra slots that were not expected after 17-18. Makes me wonder why. (

As you point out the only loss was McGuire. The others didn’t play much.
I lived in Sunnyvale for most of 50 years this my affinity for Eugene. Lol just kidding
Basketball is played indoors rain doesn’t affect play lol.
Phil Knight has given millions to Stanford
I’m just having fun

Plus Eugene is the hay fever capital of the world. And don’t take a car with Cali plates into Oregon.

Yep about the hay fever -- I grew up with that, but as for the plates, my "I love Oregon" sticker on the back of my car seems to save me. Or maybe it's my Oregon accent from having grown up there. But to add to the minus, imho, Maples is a place with orders of magnitude more class than Matthew Knight Arena. Give me Maples any time!
