Not a new offer but he wants to visit As if that will happen soon

RE: Class of 2021 - Papa John - 07-14-2020

Earlier, I suggested a mulligan for the class of 2021, and here's the hard data per 247sports.com--which gives at least a ballpark accounting re: the state of affairs.

Stanford has four commits, fewest of any power five school. According to 247sports.com, we've made 58 offers. Of the 54 who haven't committed to Stanford, 24 have committed elsewhere. So we have 30 non-committed offers as of July 14, and, per 247's crystal ball, and at the moment are favored to land two of them.

To get to 20 commits, we would need to land half of the non-committed offers and flip one current non-Stanford commit. More likely, with no additional offers, we might end up with a 10- to 12-person signing class.

Does that sound right to those in the know, or am I missing something?

RE: Class of 2021 - Phogge - 07-14-2020

Maybe if enough kids don't enroll when the university invariably goes to all online this fall then they will relax the early admit status for 2022 kids. I view the 2021 recruiting effort as very poor. If Stanford stands fast on early admits in the future then forget about Rose Bowls.

RE: Class of 2021 - BobK - 07-14-2020

I believe the planned class would be 16-17.

We have 62 offers out, but only 1 of the 4 that 247 is missing is actually in play anyways. (Newly offered OL Andrew Leingang)

There are many more POSSIBLE flips than the just one you suggest. Uncertainty abound here. Could be 1, could be 4-5. Hell, it could (but my guess is unlikely) be zero. Keep in mind last year's 2 flips were the fewest flips under Shaw.

All that said, consensus indeed negative about the current state of affairs.

Bob is right on about the class size; I believe around 17.

RE: Class of 2021 - OutsiderFan - 07-14-2020

I thought without test scores, Stanford would have a rare case of early commits this cycle. Given it appears the opposite, is it possible that sans SAT/ACT, Admissions is going to wait even longer than normal to make decisions on admits?  I mean they might want to see first semester Senior year grades even more than usual, absent the test scores.

Bobbbb, four commits, not leading for many. How much does it cost to subscribe to the BobbbbbbbbbKKKKKKK Stealth Recruiting Insider? Any pictures of possible Brazilian Beach WVB Stanford offer candidates? Pictures of you in the Emerson Bleachers at Seals S?

Leading for many more than 247 says.

Tough to get Seattle kids away from Washington.

In the past 3 cycles, 3 recruits have been admitted and chose to go elsewhere. (We are now praying this year doesn't get worse from that standpoint.) Washington took 2 of them.

I almost feel like a plume of white smoke has emerged and a somber Cardinal (of the religious sort) declared "habemus safety"
